For further photographs, videos, updates, and posts of our extended canine family, follow us on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/mastamariner IMPORTANT — READ BEFORE ENQUIRING DO NOT CALL UNLESS INVITED TO DO SO. WE WILL NOT DISCUSS AVAILABILITY OR POTENTIAL OWNERSHIP UNLESS WE HAVE BEEN PROVIDED WITH RELEVANT DETAILS BY EMAIL AND HAVE RESPONDED INVITING FURTHER DISCUSSION. Do not call to “check availability”. Availability is dependent on suitability. In the first instance, please contact us by email, providing a detailed overview of your circumstances, your experience with dogs, and your expectations of a new companion. We may then contact you to arrange an initial phone conversation. Following this, potentially suitable prospective owners will be invited to visit to meet us, Jensen, and our extended canine family. About the Dog Jensen is a 2-year-old Border Collie x Golden Retriever who was bred by us and has recently returned to our care due to an unexpected decline in his owner's health. He is an eighth-generation Mastamariner, from lines that we have selectively bred for over 30 years to embody outstanding temperament, biddability, and health. Jensen has been lovingly bred and raised with temperament always as our primary focus. He descends from outstanding parents with exceptional temperaments—his mother is soft, gentle, biddable, and deeply affectionate, and his father is eager, willing, compliant, very tactile, and cuddly. These traits are clearly reflected in his own gentle, loving, and people-oriented nature. We first bred this cross at the request of a canine assistance charity specifically for their exceptional steadiness and training potential, and over ten litters we have established a deliberate pairing designed to combine the distinct strengths of both breeds. Jensen is a typical example of this pairing, inheriting the warmth, affection, and open generosity of the Golden Retriever combined with the intelligence and biddability of the Border Collie; crucially, this cross has a lower chase instinct than the Border Collie, and a more reliable and timely recall than the Golden Retriever. Before returning to us, Jensen enjoyed a rich and inclusive family life where he was greatly loved, taking part in fun agility with the grandchildren, long country walks with his owner, and regular excursions to the seaside. He was an integral part of everyday domestic life, giving him a rock-solid foundation of trust, warmth, and gentleness around people of all ages. Character & Behaviour Jensen is friendly, calm, affectionate, highly intelligent, and playful. He thrives on human interaction, loves learning, and is always eager to please. Biddable and responsive, he is well-mannered in the home, house-trained, crate-trained, and accustomed to settling down quietly when required. Jensen travels well as a relaxed passenger in a car and thoroughly enjoys outings where his calm, gentle nature and friendly demeanour attracts attention from both human and canine friends. He behaves impeccably around food, takes rewards nicely, and shows no guarding behaviours. Having been raised in a home environment and thoroughly socialised from an early age, Jensen gets on well with any and all other dogs and will be equally happy as an only dog or sharing his home with a canine companion. The Ideal Home Jensen's new home will be with those who genuinely enjoy the companionship of a dog and will provide him with affection, regular exercise, mental stimulation, and ongoing guidance. He requires a stable, consistent home environment with owners who will include him fully as a member of the household and continue to broaden his horizons as he matures. We are looking for dedicated dog owners who understand intelligent breeds, have the time and home circumstances to meet Jensen's ongoing needs, and are committed to maintaining his good manners, training, and overall wellbeing. All our dogs live in our home as part of the family, and Jensen will not be homed where there is any intention for him to be kennelled, kept in outdoor areas, or isolated from his new household. Health & Terms of Homing Jensen is fully vaccinated, microchipped, and has been regularly wormed; both of his pedigree parents are fully health tested (with clear results). Jensen is not to be bred from. We do not home dogs as “breeding stock”, nor where canine sports are disproportionately the focus of ownership. He will be homed strictly as a companion and family member, and our sale agreement prohibits breeding and export. His new owners must undertake to insure him for life and to contact us if their circumstances ever change such that they can no longer keep him. We are experienced, licensed breeders, qualified Dog Trainers (British Institute of Professional Dog Trainers), and canine behavioural professionals who remain fully committed to the lifelong welfare of every dog we breed, including Jensen. Our breeding programme places particular emphasis on temperament and suitability as family companions, and our after-homing support is ongoing and unlimited. Prospective owners should read the conditions of homing on our website before inquiring about Jensen.
