Description

Pepper is currently pregnant with 5 puppies. She is due around the 21st of September. Raisin, father of the puppies lives with us so can be met at the same time as mum and puppies. Both parents are well socialised with other dogs, people and children. Both have good temperaments and wonderful pets. Pepper is more Jack Russell in her personality and is very intelligent. Raisin is a typical miniature dachshund. He is incredibly loving but still very much a hound! Raisin is KC registered and comes from good lineage, his grandad is shown at crufts. Neither parents have any health conditions. Raisin is 18 months and Pepper is 4 years old. 11/09/2026 - The ouppies were born in the early hours. Mum was a natural, no intervention was needed. Mum and puppies are doing well. Everybody is feeding and Mum is cleaning and keeping them warm.

Pros

Exceptionally long lifespan of 12 to 16 years with good care
Low grooming requirements for short-coated individuals — weekly brushing is sufficient
Compact, adaptable size suits flat and apartment living
Lively, entertaining companion with great personality for experienced small-dog owners

Cons

Dachshund heritage carries a serious risk of Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD) — spinal health must be carefully managed
Independent, stubborn character from both parent breeds makes training a challenge without consistency
Strong prey drive from both parents means unreliable recall and risk around small animals
Not well suited to families with very young children due to small size and occasional snappiness
