Blue, 1-year-old Border Collie Lurcher Cross looking for a loving long-term home
Blue is a very loving and affectionate young dog who enjoys being around people and forming a close bond with his owner.
Blue is deaf and partially sighted, so he needs an understanding owner who is willing to communicate with him using visual cues and give him time to become comfortable in new surroundings.
He can become overwhelmed when walking on a normal lead, mainly due to excitement. He does much better in quieter areas where he has more space, and he enjoys long-line walks. He is also very good in the car and enjoys walks in open fields.
Blue does have separation difficulties and can become distressed when left alone, including barking, crying, pacing and scratching at doors. Because of this, he would be best suited to someone who has plenty of time for him and is willing to work patiently and positively on his confidence with being left.
He is a loving, playful and affectionate dog with no history of aggression towards people. He is good with children and other dogs, although he is very playful and often wants to play and cuddle, which some dogs may find a little overwhelming. Any introductions with other dogs would therefore need to be calm and carefully managed.
Finding Blue a new home has not been an easy decision. Due to ill health in the family, we are struggling to give him the time, attention and exercise he needs and deserves. We have spent time understanding his needs, but feel he would be better suited to a home that can give him the level of company, patience, structure and support he needs.
Blue is house-trained, microchipped and his vaccinations are up to date. He knows simple hand commands and will come with his bed, toys, puzzles, food and other belongings.
We are not looking for the quickest home for Blue. We want to take the time to find the right long-term match for him.
Blue is a wonderful dog with lots of love to give, and we want to find him a home where he can settle, feel secure and become a much-loved member of the family.
