It’s with a genuinely heavy heart that we are looking for a new home for our white German Shepherd, Monty. Monty is a beautiful, affectionate and intelligent boy who is very much part of our family. He currently lives in a busy family home with children aged 3–12 and three other dogs. With people, Monty is an absolute softie. He loves meeting new people, is always happy to have a fuss and absolutely loves a belly rub. He enjoys being around the family and is a very loving dog. Unfortunately, Monty and one of our other dogs, a Corgi, have occasional spontaneous disagreements. For the vast majority of the time they live together perfectly well, and Monty also lives happily alongside our other two dogs. However, because these disagreements can happen unexpectedly and there is such a significant difference in size between Monty and the Corgi, we have reached the difficult decision that it isn’t responsible for us to continue taking that risk. This is the only reason we are looking to rehome him, and it isn’t a decision we have taken lightly. Monty can be nervous when meeting unfamiliar dogs while on the lead. He currently weighs around 34kg and is expected to mature at approximately 40kg, so he is a strong dog. His new owner will therefore need to be confident handling a large dog and, ideally, have previous experience with German Shepherds or similar breeds. Although Monty currently lives with other dogs, given the reason for rehoming him, our preference would be for him to be the only dog in his new home. We simply don’t want to introduce an unnecessary risk into his next home. Monty was chemically castrated in August 2026, with the implant intended to last approximately 12 months. There is no urgency whatsoever to rehome Monty. He will remain with us until we find someone we are completely comfortable with. Finding the right permanent home for him is far more important than finding one quickly. We will be completely open and honest with anyone genuinely interested and are very happy to discuss Monty’s personality, behaviour and routine in detail. He really is a fantastic, people-loving dog with an enormous amount of affection to give. We want to find someone who understands the breed, can confidently handle him and, most importantly, will give him the loving and permanent home he deserves. Serious enquiries only please.
