Reason for rehoming:
When I first chose to have Nyla, I had my two children (aged 3 and 9 at the time) and a job where I worked 8:45am til 2:30pm (I had worked here for 11 years at this point, the routine was set and my plan was to remain at this place of work forever). These times were great for being able to come home and still provide Nyla with the attention and love she deserves. Unfortunately, I have now changed jobs and I work further away and longer hours, thus I do not return home until 5:30pm most days and 6pm on Wednesdays. I feel guilty having her locked in for an extra 3-4hrs but I also feel guilty in writing this post and even considering rehoming. This has been an extremely tough decision, which I have not made lightly at all. For Nyla, I do believe that a more active home is the best thing for her.
Nyla is a fun, loving Yorkie, definitely a terrier π€£ She is full of energy and wants to be everyone's friend π€
She responds to basic commands, such as her name, come here, sit, paw, no, down, out and bed. Still working on training when overly excited π pretty standard for a terrier π€£
Good recall - has been out of the gates and never ran off, always returned when called but this was when there were no other dogs around. Travels well in the car too and is good on the lead (although isn't a fan of having the harness put on π€¦).
Nyla loves, loves, loves (!!) a fuss and loves to play. She will play fetch, chase and pretty much anything. Her favourite toys are a ****************** Tree, a banana, a rabbit and a pig π· but her favourite 'toys' are SOCKS! She will steal your socks and she will hide them π
Nyla's diet is a mix of wet and dry food. Wet pouches in jelly and a scoop or two of dry. She has one meal a day (at night) but she get chew bars when I leave in a morning. She doesn't like carrot π₯ or wet food in gravy.
Nyla has been brought up with two children and initially was the only dog π Since Feb 2024, we took on my dad's dog (a much older shihtzu called Oscar) and they are great friends, although Oscar doesn't always want to play. She does like to nibble his ear but this is in a playful manner. I am unsure of what her reaction would be around other dogs but when my neighbour has introduced her dog, Nyla was a little scared.
Nyla has not been spayed, however, she does not seem to have regular seasons - she has had two very mild ones since we've had her. **NOT FOR BREEDING**
What doesn't she like? Well, she doesn't like having a bath or the hair dryer, doesn't like the vets or having her nails clipped and isn't a fan of being groomed π€¦ππ She has never been nasty though, she just tried to run away.
What does she like? Treats, snuggles, a fuss, playing, belly rubs, walks and making friends. She is such a loving dog πΆ
For her bed, Nyla destroys anything that is fluffy, soft and padded π€¦ She ends up with old pillows and blankets but they are comfy and cosy π€
Nyla is toilet trained to a degree. We have always kept the door open so the dogs can go in and out as they please. During the night and day, whilst at work, I have continued to use puppy pads, which she uses well.
Please feel free to ask any further questions.
Genuine interest only please
I think Nyla would benefit from a family who spend more time at home.
Definitely needs a garden and space to run.
Viewings are a must (time to be agreed due to work).
Thank you
PLEASE IGNORE THE LITTER SECTION LOL - I CAN'T GET RID OF IT π€¦
