Description
We are devastated to be looking for a new home for our beloved dog, Ted — an 8‑year‑old black & tan working cocker spaniel. This is not a decision we want to make, but one we feel we have to, as he is not comfortable living with young children.
Ted is a loving, affectionate boy who adores cuddling on the sofa. He is KC registered (Thorneyash Frankinsense), fully up to date with vaccinations, flea/worming, and insured with ManyPets. He is fit, healthy, raw‑fed, and has no inherited issues.
He is well trained, walks beautifully off‑lead, has good recall, and is happy with two walks a day. He also goes out with a dog walker four times a week and enjoys socialising. He is neutered, groomed regularly, and sleeps downstairs in the utility room. He is fine being left for up to four hours and boards overnight with a sitter with no problems.
Ted is generally good with other dogs, though he may bark at intact males. He is fine with older children (around 13+). He does not have the typical “manic” working cocker drive — he prefers a nice walk followed by a snooze, and his dream home would absolutely involve sleeping on someone’s bed.
Unfortunately, he is not coping with our 1‑year‑old baby. He becomes very stressed, jealous, and uncomfortable, and cannot relax when the baby is around. Although he has never bitten, his behaviour clearly shows he is unhappy. We have sought help from our vet and a qualified behaviourist, but things have not improved. We feel he deserves a calmer home where he can be the centre of someone’s world again.
Ted needs a child‑free home (no children under 15), ideally with someone who works from home or is retired and can give him companionship, routine, and varied walks.
We are not asking for any money — we simply want the right home for him. We will only let him go if we are confident it will give him the happier, more peaceful life he deserves.
