Description
We are having to rehome our girl Luna due to behavioral issues. Luna is 8 months old and has had professional training and also training by me, we have tried calming sprays and everything possible but nothing seems to be helping. Luna is toilet trained but now seems to go to the toilet outside and also in every room inside the house if left alone or you don’t have your eye on her but then looks sorry for herself and runs to the back door as soon as you see she has toileted in the house. Luna eats and destroys everything in the house within a minute if left alone or your in a different room. She has eaten through her wooden crate and broke out of it even though she has been crate trained since being 7 week old but now recently screams the entire time she’s in there and breaks things to get out and I don’t know why. We take her on a 1-2 hour walk and she still doesn’t calm afterwards she will definitely need 2 or 3 walks a day just to calm and somewhere with a big garden. Luna is trained and does many tricks but she is recently defying and will only listen with treats, she used to have recall on walks but again now it’s when she chooses to listen or not but can be quite good with it. When we got Luna we was told she was a lab cross, she’s definitely not and is some type of hound and I have no experience with this breed and have tried possibly everything she has been so easy to train just just doesn’t choose to listen to her training anymore she knows sit, lay, paw, high five, safety, protect, down, wait, stay and more once she’s used to you she calms down a bit but new guests she jumps all over them and nibbled there hands and chooses not to listen to you at all around new people. Luna gets on with dogs and cats and loves all animals but can get too exited around them at times and jump all over them as she gets jealous of other animals near us Luna is good on lead can pull a bit but once corrected she may heel. This is breaking my heart as we love her so much but we didn’t sighn up for a high maintenance working breed and sadly was lied to, she’s such a loving dog but lets herself down with these behaviors. Luna needs a home where someone is always there with her and can take her on multiple long walks a day, can put in more training or re start from scratch and have a big garden and constantly have an eye on her and high fences and she can escape everything.
Luna is high maintenance and to make sure she’s going to a good home I’ll be doing checks to ensure that she’s not going somewhere that can’t handle her needs. I’m trying to be as honest as possible on this post as Luna isn’t just a dog you can give a home without thinking it through, she has caused me sweat and tears trying to get through this stage but nothing is working for her or us anymore.
