Description
Eddie is currently in foster and can be adopted via https://pennypawsrescue.org.uk/.
Edward (Eddie) is a gentle, affectionate soul who has been nothing but good since arriving in the UK. He is fully housetrained, copes well with being left for periods of up to four hours, and sleeps well at night (often with a calming radio). During the day, he enjoys settling on a bed beside you. Eddie is a beautiful boy with the face of a shepherd and hints of corgi, and once he feels safe, he seeks out cuddles and gentle strokes.
Eddie can be cautious around new people, particularly men, but warms up quickly with patience and kindness. He has not yet met children, but may suit a home with older, calm, dog-savvy children who understand giving space. Eddie walks nicely on a harness and long lead, enjoying slow, scent-filled adventures. He does not react negatively to cars, though he can be nervous around larger vehicles such as vans or tractors, and may also be spooked by people, dogs, or larger animals like horses and deer (he is not cat tested). He will need continued support to continue building confidence.
Eddie enjoys natural and raw treats, though he is not yet familiar with many standard dog treats. He eats well, preferring wet food to dry, especially chicken, and has shown no guarding behaviours. He allows regular grooming, though he has not yet been bathed or water-tested.
In foster, Eddie lives happily with another smaller dog and would benefit from a home with a calm, friendly dog of a similar temperament to help show him the ropes. He has shown interest in the resident guinea pig but has not been reactive. Eddie has a classic shepherd “voice” when he needs something and sees himself as a gentle protector of his family home.
Eddie would thrive in a quiet, patient household where he can continue to blossom at his own pace. He may be a sensitive boy, but for the right adopter, he will be a deeply loyal and loving companion.
(Adoption fee is set to £550 to help us save more dogs like Eddie)
