🔄 UPDATE – BARNEY LOOKING FOR A FOREVER HOME
Perhaps you remember little Barney. Around a year ago he was surrendered to our rescue and found the most wonderful home with a very caring older lady who gave him all her heart. ❤️
Sadly, her health has now significantly declined. A few months ago, when she was hospitalised, she asked us to find Barney a temporary foster, hoping she would be able to take her little boy home again.
Unfortunately, that is no longer going to be possible. With serious mobility difficulties and a possible move into a care home, she has had to make the heartbreaking decision to let Barney find another family.
So at 11 years old, our little gentleman needs to start looking for a home again. 💔
🐾 Meet Barney
Barney is a tiny Bichon Frise boy who is affectionate, gentle and wonderfully easy company. He isn't looking for somebody to entertain him all day — these days Barney appreciates life at a rather more civilised pace. 😊
His foster describes him as “an absolute gentleman who deserves to be spoiled and pampered in his later years.”

🐾 More About Barney
Barney loves his gentle walks and afternoons in the park, where his favourite occupation is taking his time to sniff all the interesting smells. 🌳🐾
At home, he wants to be part of everyday life. He will happily follow you around supervising the household chores, then settle beside you for a cuddle on the sofa. And when bedtime arrives, Barney knows exactly what is happening and enthusiastically gets himself ready to snuggle down. ❤️
He enjoys other dogs, but his foster feels that at this stage of his life Barney would be happiest as somebody's one-and-only little companion, soaking up all the love and attention for himself.
🏡 The Home We Are Looking For
Barney would be wonderful company for retired or home-based people who are around most of the time and want a gentle little companion to share their days.
Because Barney is already a senior boy, we want his next home to genuinely be his FOREVER home. We are therefore looking for physically fit adopters, ideally under 70, who are financially secure and prepared for the responsibilities that come with caring for an older dog.
There is no standard adoption fee for Barney, but a donation to the rescue will apply, as we do not rehome dogs for free.
More importantly, his future family must be able to comfortably provide his ongoing care. Barney requires regular professional grooming, insurance for a senior dog may be more expensive, and as he grows older there may naturally be increased veterinary costs in future.
💞 Barney has already lost one home through circumstances completely beyond anyone's control. His lovely owner wanted desperately to have him back, but sometimes life makes the decision for us.
This time we want Barney to pack his little suitcase for the LAST time. 🥹💙 He deserves someone who will spoil him, cuddle him and let this wonderful little gentleman enjoy every one of his golden years knowing he is home.

Barney is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. He is currently doing well in foster without health concerns.
