A Little About Me
I was one of the first breeders in the UK to become a nationally recognised qualified dog breeder after completing the Ofqual Level 3 Certificate in Dog Breeding, Puppy Socialisation, and Welfare. I am extremely proud to hold this qualification and to be recognised for my hard work and dedication to my fully health-tested Labradors and Cocker Spaniels here in Cumbria.
During 2023, I also completed extensive CPD training in veterinary nursing up to Level 4. Alongside this, I gained qualifications in:
* Level 3 First Aid for Puppies and Dogs
* Level 3 Kennel Assistant & Management
* Canine Embryology and Foetal Development for Breeders
* Canine Pregnancy and Whelping
* Puppy Socialisation for Breeders
* Level 3 Canine Nutrition

I pride myself on giving 110% in everything I do and draw upon over 28 years of experience breeding Cocker Spaniels. I am always striving to improve myself and expand my knowledge in every way possible and will continue learning throughout my career.

Our Cocker Spaniels are perfectly proportioned show-type Cockers with the kindest natures and happiest outlook on life. They are fun, outgoing, affectionate, and wonderful with everything they encounter. They never take life too seriously and are dogs that never fail to make us smile.

Raising Our Puppies
Health and temperament are our highest priorities here at Sykehead.
Our puppies are born beside my bed before moving into the kitchen, where they quickly become accustomed to all the everyday household noises you would expect in a busy country farmhouse.
The puppies are weaned onto Fish4Dogs.
Before leaving us at 8 weeks old, your puppy will have received the very best start in life and will be extremely well socialised. He or she will have followed a strict worming programme, been treated for flea prevention at 6 weeks, microchipped at 6 weeks, and vet checked as close to 8 weeks as possible.
Our puppies also benefit from our purpose-built enrichment puppy room, designed to encourage exploration, confidence, and play.
Our Early Development Puppy Play Area supports early stimulation and cognitive development in young puppies. Studies into early neurological stimulation have shown that one of the most important developmental periods for puppies is between 4 and 16 weeks of age.
Research shows that puppies who are not properly stimulated during this critical period may become fearful of unfamiliar objects and environments. Even well-bred puppies with exceptional pedigrees can grow up preferring the safety of kennels or crates rather than confidently exploring the world around them.
We believe our Puppy Play Areas, combined with carefully selected enrichment toys, introduce puppies to a variety of textures, sounds, and experiences that stimulate their developing nervous systems.
We fully understand the importance of raising stable, confident, and well-adjusted puppies. Exposing them to many different sounds, textures, and experiences during their early weeks gives them a fantastic head start in life.

I advertise my litters early to give families time to get to know me over the phone, via text, and when viewing the puppies. I like to keep in regular contact throughout the next couple of months by sending updated photographs and weekly progress reports.

A £300 NON-REFUNDABLE deposit/holding fee is required to reserve your chosen puppy.
