Description

This is by far the hardest advert we have ever had to write. We are looking for a very special home for our beautiful boy, Beast. He is 8 years old and has been part of our family since he was just 8 weeks old. He isn’t “just a cat” to us – he is family, and we never imagined we would ever be in the position of looking for another home for him. Before explaining why we have made this heartbreaking decision, we really want people to know who Beast is, because we don’t want one difficult part of his story to be the thing that defines him. Beast is an affectionate, funny and incredibly playful boy with a huge personality. ❤️ If there’s fun happening, Beast wants to be involved! He absolutely loves playing and will immediately join in. He loves his toys, lasers, catnip, bells and balls, and at 8 years old he still has that wonderfully playful, kitten-like side to him. And like any self-respecting cat, if you leave a cardboard box lying around, you can pretty much guarantee Beast will climb straight into it! 😂 He loves being outside and really enjoys having a garden to potter around in. On sunny days he loves nothing more than sunbathing, and he’ll happily roll around on the stones on our driveway enjoying himself. He loves people, affection and company and enjoys being part of family life. He even really likes our neighbour’s dog and is quite happy around him. Unfortunately, Beast has had a difficult relationship with our older male cat for a number of years. It’s important to us to be completely honest about this. Interestingly, he gets along with our younger cat, so this isn’t a case of Beast simply hating every other animal. For whatever reason, the problem has always been particularly between Beast and our older boy. We have spent years trying to make their relationship work. We’ve tried separate feeding areas, giving them their own spaces, keeping them apart for long periods, careful reintroductions, pheromone diffusers and changes around the home. We’ve sought advice and tried everything we can reasonably think of because rehoming Beast was the absolute last thing we wanted. Sadly, the situation has escalated. Around two months ago, Beast bit our older cat on the head during an attack, which resulted in an abscess that had to be drained by the vet. More recently there was another serious attack, and we have reached the heartbreaking point where we simply cannot risk either cat being hurt again. We’ve had to accept that sometimes, despite how desperately you want something to work, two animals simply aren’t happy living together. Although Beast gets along with our younger cat, after everything we’ve experienced we genuinely feel that the best and safest future for Beast would be as the only cat in his new home. We think he’d thrive being someone’s one and only, getting all the attention, playtime and space to himself. 🏡 Beast’s perfect home We’re looking for a home with no other cats, with a secure garden or safe outdoor access so he can continue enjoying the outdoors. Most importantly, we’re looking for someone who will love him for the wonderful character he is and treat him as part of their family. Someone who will play with him, let him sunbathe in the garden, provide an endless supply of cardboard boxes 😂 and give him the love and security he deserves. We are not looking to make money from Beast. We are asking for a small adoption fee simply to help ensure genuine enquiries, and every penny will be donated to Hector’s House Cat Rescue, who have kindly supported us through this incredibly difficult time. Finding the right home is far more important to us than finding a quick one. We will happily answer absolutely any questions about Beast, and we’d really like to know about anyone interested in him, their home and the life they could offer him. After almost eight years together, handing Beast over to somebody else will be incredibly painful for us. But loving him also means recognising what we genuinely believe he needs to be happy. We desperately want the next chapter of Beast’s life to be a happy one. If you’re reading this and think you could be the person to give our gorgeous, funny, playful boy the forever home he deserves, we’d really love to hear from you. ❤️🐾 Finding the Right Person for Beast Finding the **right home** is far more important to us than finding a quick one\. After having Beast since he was 8 weeks old, we need to know he’s going to a genuine forever home\. We’re happy to chat with anyone seriously interested and can arrange a **video call** to get to know each other and talk about Beast and the home you could offer\. If possible, we would also prefer to **meet you and see where Beast would be living** before making a final decision, as it would give us peace of mind knowing he’ll be safe and happy\. We’d also like to learn a bit about you, your home, any other pets, and your experience with cats\. Saying goodbye after nearly eight years will be very hard, so we need to feel confident we’ve found the right person and the right home for our boy\.
