Meet James (Jamie) — 1 Year Old Segugio Hound • Gentle • Sensitive • Learning to Love Life
James — or Jamie — is a 1‑year‑old Segugio hound who didn’t have the best start to life. He was found abandoned beside a church in Kathikas, Cyprus, extremely thin, very sick, and utterly shut down.
A kind local woman rescued him and spent months nursing him back to health. Living alone on the streets made him timid of humans and frightened of sudden sounds — he simply didn’t know what safety felt like.
Today, Jamie is in foster in the East Midlands, and this sweet boy is finally learning that the world isn’t such a scary place.
🐾 Jamie’s Personality
Gentle, sensitive, and incredibly sweet
Nervous in new situations but improving every day
Barks when unsure — he’s still learning how to cope
Loves reassurance and settles beautifully once he feels safe
Enjoys running, playing, and exploring with confidence
Dog‑friendly and gains comfort from canine company
He is currently 16–17 kg and will likely reach 20–24 kg once fully grown — a lovely medium hound size.
💛 His Progress in Foster
Jamie has come on in leaps and bounds thanks to his patient foster family. Here’s what they shared about his latest outing:
“It was very busy but Jamie was very good and didn’t bark at many people. He even went up to a young girl who wanted to give him a treat and took it straight from her!”
Alice (his foster friend) wanted to say hello to everyone — and Jamie followed her lead, watching, learning, and growing in confidence.
They enjoyed:
