Description
Some cats come into rescue and break your heart. Others remind you exactly why you do what you do. And then there’s Hope. ❤️
Around five weeks ago, Gina and I, the co-founders of Cats in Crisis East London, were at our vets with a group of kittens for their vaccinations when one of our wonderful veterinary nurses approached us looking incredibly worried.
She explained that there was a lady in another room with a very young cat who was desperately ill. Hope was severely emaciated and had been so desperately hungry that she had started eating whatever she could find to fill her stomach. Unfortunately, she had swallowed material that had become lodged inside her, and she needed major surgery to survive.
Her owner had been quoted around £1,500 for the operation and had asked the vet to put her to sleep, explaining that she was “just a cat”. To us, she wasn’t just a cat. She was a precious little life that deserved a chance.
So Gina and I made a decision. Hope would come into our care, and CIC would fund the surgery to give her that chance. The vets suspected she had eaten pieces of carpet and goodness knows what else in her desperate attempt to satisfy her hunger.
Fast forward five weeks and Hope is an absolute sweetheart. She is a beautiful, friendly, affectionate young cat who has so much love to give. She is wonderful with other cats and is completely unfazed by dogs. We have a Border Collie wandering around and Hope simply couldn’t care less!
After everything this little girl has endured, we are now looking for someone who will give her the life she should always have had. Someone who understands that a cat isn’t just a pet, isn’t disposable and certainly isn’t “just a cat”. Hope deserves a home where she will be cherished, kept safe, well cared for and loved for the rest of her life.
