I have 3 gerbils that weren't supposed to stay mine in the first place, I got them in the first place because I rescued one of them (Ares) from a bad home. We got the other 2 for company, the bonding process was a success and they've been great for about 2 months now. However I cannot keep them even though I want to, I already have 4 rats and I don't have the time to take care of all of them.
Unfortunately I haven't been able to start socialising them with humans, so that is something you would need to do. They are a bit skittish yet are really sweet and willing to be pet and held, not for too long.
They do sometimes nibble but never hard.
The cage is pretty big and I do believe it is enough for the three of them. There's a level for the bedding where they hide. Yet they always come out to see what is going on when there's noise.
