Description
Our much-loved family pet is sadly looking for a new home. Due to my wife developing a pregnancy-related allergy, we have had to make the heartbreaking decision to rehome her. We have tried every possible option, but unfortunately it has not worked, and this has been an extremely difficult decision for our family. Ava is 8 years old and has been professionally trained since puppyhood, with continuous ongoing training throughout her life. She absolutely loves working, learning tricks, and obedience exercises. She is very driven, playful, and genuinely enjoys games and interaction. She walks beautifully on the lead and heels perfectly. She is fully house-trained and has never had accidents indoors. Ava has been raised around children all her life and is incredibly patient and gentle with them. Despite her age, she still has a bouncy, puppy-like personality. She is naturally protective and will warn on command by growling or barking if someone touches the garden fence or enters the garden. She also stops immediately on command. Her temperament is truly exceptional. Ava does not go on sofas or beds, does not lick faces (this was our personal preference), and does not jump up at people. She is good with other dogs, although she will set clear boundaries if another dog is overly pushy, which is typical of her breed. She would be best suited to someone with previous German Shepherd experience, or a confident and knowledgeable owner, as the breed thrives with clear leadership and understanding. Health information: Ava has an environmental allergy that presents as itchy skin. This is currently very well controlled with one daily steroid tablet and an anallergenic diet. Since starting this routine, her symptoms have been fully resolved and would simply need ongoing maintenance through a vet. Her full veterinary history will be provided. She is not neutered. We attempted this on three separate occasions, but each time she was producing milk, so it was advised to leave her entire. She has never had any litters. We would like to carefully vet any potential adopters and would be happy for you to meet Ava and spend time with her to ensure it is the right fit for everyone. It is important to us that she has outdoor space, such as a garden or large patio, as this is what she is accustomed to. Ava will come with: - Her elevated bed - A one-year supply of steroids - Anallergenic dog food - Bowls, leads, collars, harnesses - Her favourite toys and belongings We will always be available for advice or support in the future, whether for training guidance or general questions (although, truthfully, she’s the easy part — it’s usually the handler!) will be free to anyone whom has had a German shepherd/ has one.
