Chicken – 4-year-old American Cocker x English Cocker (bitch)
📍 Fostered in Gloucestershire (adult home with other dogs)
Chicken came into rescue alongside five other dogs from a breeder who has now stopped breeding. She has lived a very sheltered life and, apart from being around other dogs, had little to no experience of the outside world when she arrived.

This beautiful little soul has settled quickly into her foster home. In many ways, she is more confident than some of the others and is blossoming every day.
Chicken enjoys walks and shows a real interest in the big wide world, meeting new sights, smells, and people with growing curiosity. She is keen to meet other dogs she sees on walks and even at the vet was happy to say a friendly “hi” and have a sniff.

Toilet training is going very well — she knows the garden is her place. She sleeps in her crate without issue, and often goes there herself when she feels a little overwhelmed. Chicken sleeps through the night and is currently crated in the bedroom, although she would prefer a cozy spot on the bed if given the choice!

Chicken loves company and is a true velcro dog — though sometimes it’s just curiosity, checking if her foster carer is headed for the snack cupboard! She is a lovely, affectionate little girl who is easy to love, and her foster carer feels very protective over her.

She has been to the vet, started her vaccinations, been spayed, had a dental with six teeth removed, and has received treatment for ear infections and mites.
She is now well on the way to recovery, and the next step is finding that special family to continue the amazing care her foster home has started.
🏡 The Home Chicken Needs
Chicken will need a special, understanding home with previous experience of rescue dogs. We feel she would really benefit from living with another calm, gentle dog who can offer reassurance and guidance.
An adult-only, quiet home is essential, where her new family will continue the patient, kind approach her foster carer has given her — gradually introducing her to the world without overwhelming her.
