Description

Koda is a beautiful 5 year old (nearly 6 year old) border collie, who we rescued when she was a puppy. She has given us years of love and laughter and it is with the deepest regret that she must now go to a new home. Koda has such a beautiful personality, with buckets of love to give. She absolutely loves attention, cuddles, play time and walks. She has tons of energy and requires long walks each day to stimulate her. Unfortunately, the reason we need to rehome Koda is because she is extremely stressed out by our young daughter. We have worked with a behaviourist and other trainers over the past year, but the stress of our daughter who is now mobile is proving too much for Koda. Koda has always struggled with being extremely nervous and is on anxiety medication (and has been for two years). We can provide a full vet history. Koda is microchipped, spayed and up to date with all vaccines and treatments. Koda has only required hospitalisation once before, with an emergency surgery, due to swallowing part of a toy. She is known to have a very small fatty lump in her neck which the vets were not concerned about. The right family would need to be able to support her through her anxiety, be able to keep going with her anxiety medication and work on keeping a calm environment for her. There should be no young children in the house, and the family should be active and enjoy taking Koda out a lot. We would also love to be kept updated with how Koda is doing, as it is breaking our hearts to let her go. Due to her anxiety, we would like for the new owners to meet her a few times before taking her home so we know she is comfortable with them. Koda is toilet trained, house trained, muzzle trained (for the vet when she is nervous) and crate trained. She is incredibly smart (probably too smart!) and knows a lot of commands, has great recall and is excellent at “waiting”. We don’t know much about before she came to us apart from the fact that it was a puppy farm that was taken down. She was the runt of the litter. She had a lot of aggression and guarding issues when she first came to us but has done excellent in her training in the nearly 6 years she has been with us. Koda will come with all of her toys, crate, bed, lead and harness. She has always been with PetPlan insurance who have been amazing throughout her life and reimburse us for her monthly medication. We highly recommend them. Koda is such a beautiful and sweet girl, who is just struggling with a lot of anxiety. We know that the right calm home will help her so much, and only want what’s best for her. If you have any questions at all, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
