PLEASE READ PANDA'S FULL STORY BEFORE CONTACTING ❤️ Meet Panda – looking for a very special forever home ❤️ Panda is a beautiful 1 year and 4 month old mixed-breed girl who arrived in Scotland from a rescue in Ukraine eight months ago. She is looking for a very special family who can give her the environment she needs to continue becoming the wonderful dog we know she is. Panda is one of the gentlest, kindest and most intelligent dogs I have ever met. She forms incredibly strong bonds with the people she trusts and, once she feels safe, her beautiful personality shines through. She loves cuddles, enjoys learning new things, adores enrichment and puzzle games, has the funniest zoomies around the house and is happiest simply being close to her people. She learns incredibly quickly and never stops surprising me with her resilience. Before leaving Ukraine, Panda was described by her rescue as a happy, curious and sociable puppy who loved both people and other dogs. However, by the time she arrived in the UK after her long journey, she was completely shut down. She was terrified of people, unfamiliar sounds, movement, the outdoors, the harness, the lead and almost every new experience. Watching Panda slowly rediscover joy has been one of the greatest privileges of my life. Over the past eight months, we have worked alongside several qualified behaviourists, my veterinary practice and a positive reinforcement trainer. Every step has been taken slowly, patiently and at Panda's pace. The transformation has been remarkable. Panda now welcomes visitors into the home. She may bark briefly when someone first arrives while staying in one of her safe places, but her curiosity quickly takes over. She gradually approaches to sniff them and, after a little time, will often quietly sit beside them. She has never shown aggression towards people. If Panda feels frightened, her instinct is simply to freeze, move away or retreat. One of Panda's biggest challenges has been her fear of the harness and lead. When she first arrived, both caused an intense fear response. After months of patient, force-free training, she now happily accepts her harness and is no longer afraid of the lead itself. The remaining challenge is not the lead, but the feeling of losing control once it is attached. When Panda feels restricted, her fear takes over and she struggles to move freely. She can now confidently walk up and down the three flights of stairs inside my building without the lead, but leaving the flat and continuing outside on the lead is still very difficult for her. Because I live in a third-floor flat with no lift and no direct access to outside, every trip outdoors begins with communal stairs, corridors and a shared entrance before she even reaches open space. I genuinely believe that this environment—not Panda—is now the biggest barrier to her continuing progress. This means Panda hasn't been able to enjoy the regular, structured walks that every young dog deserves—not because she isn't capable, but because the combination of the lead and the environment is still overwhelming for her. I truly believe Panda would flourish in a quiet home with direct access to a secure garden or safe enclosed outdoor space, where she could enjoy being outside freely, build confidence at her own pace and gradually develop the confidence needed for relaxed walks in the future. I also believe she would benefit enormously from living with a calm, confident resident dog. Before leaving Ukraine she enjoyed the company of other dogs, and I believe another balanced dog could help show her that the outside world is safe and enjoyable. Panda is not aggressive. She has never shown aggression towards people or other dogs. She is simply a sensitive dog whose response to fear is to avoid rather than confront. Given time, patience and kindness, she has repeatedly shown just how much she can achieve. This decision has broken my heart because Panda is deeply loved. If I believed I could give her what she now needs, I would never let her go. But loving her also means recognising that another environment may allow her to reach her full potential. I'm not looking for just any home. I'm looking for the right home—someone patient, understanding and willing to continue building on the incredible progress Panda has already made. She doesn't need someone to start again; she needs someone to continue her journey. ❤️ If you think you could offer Panda the calm, loving home she deserves, or would like to know more about her, please get in touch. Please feel free to share Panda's story, as her perfect family may be someone in your own network. Panda will only be rehomed after careful discussions to ensure the very best match. I will happily share her veterinary and behavioural history, introduce prospective adopters to her trainer if helpful, and do everything I can to support a successful transition. Thank you for taking the time to read Panda's story. I truly believe her perfect family is out there. ❤️ 💚 Adoption fee: £150 Please note: The adoption fee is not intended to make a profit or recover costs. It is simply there to encourage genuine, committed enquiries and to help ensure Panda is placed in a responsible, lifelong home. Finding the right family for Panda is far more important to me than the fee, and I will only rehome her after careful discussions to ensure she is matched with the most suitable home.
