Monty has now had a little time to settle into foster — and his foster describes him as “a darling little boy with a HUGE adorable personality.” ❤️
He is energetic and absolutely loves chasing toys, but underneath all that Dachshund energy is an incredibly affectionate little boy who wants to be around his humans constantly. He LOVES snuggles and will happily soak up as much attention as you can give him.
And walks? Monty walks so happily on the lead — such a good little boy! 🐾❤️
🐾 Meet Monty
Monty is an 8-month-old, very small Miniature Dachshund boy — a loving, kissy, curious and playful little character with an enormous personality packed into a tiny body.
He is very human-oriented and wants to be involved in everything. He has missed some important early-life experiences, but he is learning fast and discovering just how exciting his new world can be. 💙

💔 Surrender Story
Monty arrived into rescue together with his two siblings after all three had been living together in a flat.
All three arrived packed into one small, completely bare crate, without even a blanket or puppy pad. They were covered in poo and shivering, and nothing came with them — no beds, food, toys or even collars.
Whatever questions we may have about their past, it doesn't matter now. They are safe — and Monty is already discovering a very different life in foster. ❤️
🐾 More About Monty
Monty needs a family with plenty of energy, time and love to give. He wants to be involved in everything and really doesn't enjoy being left alone, so we feel he would benefit greatly from living with another friendly small dog for companionship.
He is also VERY tiny! He can't jump onto the sofa himself, so expect a little face appearing below you asking for regular lifts up for cuddles. 😄💙
His toilet training is already progressing well. Because of his previous experience, he doesn't like being in a crate.
🏡 Ideal Home
For Monty, we particularly want people who understand Dachshunds — not somebody choosing him simply because Dachshunds are fashionable, tiny and incredibly cute.
They may be small, but they are real dogs with big personalities and breed-specific needs. Monty needs an active, committed family prepared for training, companionship, play, walks and all the wonderful mischief that comes with a young Dachshund. 😄
A secure grassy garden is essential, and we would ideally love a friendly small resident dog who is playful, confident and genuinely happy to share their home, humans, toys and sofa with him.
💞 Monty really is an adorable little character — playful and full of energy one minute, then looking for his humans and demanding snuggles the next. He has already discovered grass, walks and the joys of foster life. Now he just needs to discover what it feels like to have a family of his very own. 💙🏡
🩺 Health Information
Monty is not yet neutered. Because Dachshunds are particularly vulnerable to IVDD and there is evidence linking early neutering with increased IVDD risk, we do not want to rush surgery at only 8 months old. A neutering agreement applies, with timing to be discussed as he matures. The adopter will be responsible for arranging this, Paws Help is happy to contribute towards the cost, and proof of completion will be required.
His vaccination history is currently unclear, and the rescue will arrange/cover vaccination if needed.
