Description
We are looking for an experienced rural home, estate, or smallholding for our healthy adult peahen and her three peachicks, hatched naturally on our property here in Canterbury this season in June; as such they are around 4-5 months old.
Age of peahen is unknown. Gender of peachicks we believe is 2 male, 2 female (you may be better than us on the photos !).
She is an attentive, natural mother, and all three chicks are strong, active, and thriving. Because the chicks still rely closely on their mother, they are strictly being sold together as a single family group and will not be split. We are only parting with them as our residential property and roofline are no longer suited to free-ranging peafowl.
Requirements for their new home: To ensure a safe and permanent transition, we are looking for a buyer who can provide:
• An enclosed acclimatisation pen/aviary: Peafowl must be kept safely penned under cover for at least 4–6 weeks at their new home so they do not fly off when released.
• Suitable rural space: Away from dense residential areas and kept separate from chicken runs (or managed with an appropriate worming/Blackhead prevention protocol).
• Safe transport on collection: Buyer will need to bring appropriate, darkened, well-ventilated poultry crates or sturdy cardboard livestock boxes lined with straw/shavings (no bare wire dog cages, please, to prevent feather/wing damage).
When getting in touch, please let us know a little about your setup and your experience with peafowl or gamebirds.
