Description
Vera is a 1 year old Medium/Large Sized Girl. It is believed she may be a Belgian Malinois type however this is unknown. She is vaccinated and has no known health issues however when arriving she did have some issues with her stomach which caused her to poo excessively, this seems to have improved now. She is not neutered due to her age.
Vera was rescued from the streets of Curtea De Arges in February 2024. The team went to meet her in April and described her a super sweet puppy who loved cuddles, happy to trot along and one of the most confident on the lead. Vera spent another 2-3 Months in Shelter before moving to her Adoption home in July 2024.
Vera was in her home for a short period of two days before her family made the decision to surrender her due to her being larger than expected. Vera did display other puppy like behaviours such as mouthing and nipping towards the children in the home and could be anxious around them causing her to bark and growl on occasions.
They said the following:
Likes running around in garden, likes cuddles, likes to play and dig in garden. Likes treats. Like soft toys.
Vera moved to her new foster home 3 days later where she has resided since, until the start of November. She was surrendered due to her foster family being unable to continue fostering.
They said the following:
She loves walks, treats - very food motivated - playing. Running in the secure paddock once a week and soft toys as well as cuddles. She dislikes fireworks and baths.
Vera then moved to the UK kennels OSH where she has resided ever since.
Vera is very nervous of people when she first meets them and can growl and snap at them. She does, however, settle and is very friendly. She can sometimes nip when she becomes overexcited or when taking treats, her new family will need to continue working on this with her.
Vera accepts a collar, harness and lead, she can be excitable on the lead and will pull especially towards the beginning. Vera has shown some reactivity towards other dogs and people while on walks causing her to bark and lunge on one occasion in a very narrow road however this has not been seen since. Vera is good with other dogs she has met however she has growled if they come too close. Vera will need a very active family due to her high energy level and potential breed and will need someone to take her on lots of long walks and keep her mentally stimulated with lots of training.
Vera has been around lots of dogs while in Romania and was good with them. Vera has previously shared her home with another dog so could share her home with another dog, her if they are able to separate and do very slow introductions with any resident dogs.
Vera did meet cats in Romania who she was very good with them however, due to her predicted breed nature and previous chasing of cats in a home it is felt she is best to live in a cat free home.
Vera can have poo accidents in her kennel so her new home need to be aware that toilet training will need to be worked on. Vera did suffer with severe separation anxiety when she first arrived including when left alone in a separate room when her family were still in the house causing her to bark and yelp but did manage to be able to be left for 4 hours with another dog. Since being in kennels she has displayed further signs of separation anxiety.
Vera has never shown any food aggression however she has been known to counter surf and steal food lying around, she can also try to steal the other dogs food too, she will need continued work on this and to be fed separately.
Due to Vera’s reactivity to new people and biting at the kennels, she can not live with children.
03.03.2026
Vera is reactive to strangers, dogs and traffic, however, she has been on days out away from the kennels and showed not reactivity at all. She is also making major improvements with her reactivity at the kennels and is getting better at meeting new people. She will wear a muzzle on walks with lots of treats and positive reinforcement. Vera is dirty in her kennel but non-destructive. She has strong separation anxiety and would need someone who is home all or most of the time and who is confident handling working breeds. Vera is very loving and loyal and she walks lovely on the lead, she loves to train and is really food motivated which makes it easy to work with her. She travels perfectly in the car with no issues and has recently been attending man trail sessions which she is amazing at. She can live with male dogs pending successful meets but no cats or children. She loves cuddly toys and will bring them to you to show you.
