❤️ A little about Nesso
Beautiful Nesso is a gentle young girl who arrived in foster as a very nervous and unsure dog. New people, unfamiliar surroundings and everyday noises were all a little overwhelming for her at first.
But what a difference a little time, patience and kindness can make! 🥹
During her foster assessment, Nesso has started to come out of her shell and show us the lovely girl hiding underneath. Her confidence is growing, she’s learning to look to her foster mum for reassurance, and when she’s told she’s a good girl, we’re told her little back end starts to wiggle! ❤️
Her foster mum feels there’s still so much more of Nesso’s personality waiting to emerge once she is settled into her forever home.
🐶 Nesso LOVES her doggy friends!
Nesso is currently living in a multi-dog foster home and has been absolutely fine with the resident dogs.
One of the younger dogs helped encourage Nesso to play when she first arrived, and she’s now discovered just how much fun toys can be!
She has a particular tuggy toy that she absolutely loves and has even been known to bring it over to her foster mum’s younger dog to initiate a game. 🥰
Because she enjoys canine company, Nesso could potentially live with a friendly, compatible resident dog.
Her foster mum also believes she could be an only dog, particularly if she had opportunities to socialise and play with other dogs.
🌎 Discovering the big wide world
Nesso can still be cautious when she’s somewhere unfamiliar, but she’s making fantastic progress.
Outside the home she can initially be nervous, although not to the point of desperately trying to pull away. She currently wears a harness and is gradually becoming more comfortable with her walking equipment.
She lives on a main road, so she’s had plenty of exposure to different traffic sounds. Initially these worried her, but she is now absolutely fine with them – a brilliant example of how much confidence this girl can gain when she’s allowed to experience things at her own pace. 👏
🏡 Nesso around the home
Nesso is proving to be a lovely house guest.
She has been clean in the house since the day she arrived, sleeps in her crate and is comfortable being crated when her foster mum goes out. She may occasionally whimper during the night, but otherwise she settles well.
She is also good travelling in the car.
Nesso can occasionally have a little cheeky moment – as many youngsters do! 😂 – but her foster mum says that when she’s told, she listens.
👋 Meeting new people
Nesso may initially bark when unfamiliar people enter the home. This appears to come from uncertainty rather than aggression.
Once given the chance to assess the situation and realise everything is okay, she settles. She has met dog-experienced visitors and has shown no aggression, although she can understandably be cautious.
Nesso will therefore need adopters who won’t expect her to immediately greet every visitor like a long-lost friend. Give her some space, allow her to make her own decisions and let that confidence continue to grow.
🍽️ Food, toys & everyday life
Nesso is currently fed in her crate, as are the other dogs in her foster home. Initially she could snap if another dog approached while she was eating, but she has become much more relaxed and her foster mum can now put her bowl in and take it out without any problems.
She hasn’t yet visited a groomer and hasn’t been bathed while in foster.
She has not been assessed with cats, so we cannot say that she is cat friendly.
Her suitability for living with children has also not been fully assessed, so this would need to be carefully considered when matching her with a home.
💕 The home we’re looking for
The most important thing Nesso needs is patience.
She’s made wonderful progress in a relatively short period, but she’s still a young dog learning that the world isn’t such a frightening place.
We’d love a home that will continue building her confidence without overwhelming her. Someone who understands that with nervous dogs, seemingly tiny achievements can actually be enormous milestones.
A friendly resident dog could be a lovely companion and confidence-builder for her, although it isn’t necessarily essential for the right applicant.
🌟 From nervous Nesso to happy Nesso…
Her foster mum sums up her progress perfectly:
“She has gone from a shy, nervous dog to a dog with a lot more confidence, but I feel she still has a lot to give with her nature.”
And that’s exactly why we’re so excited for Nesso’s future. ❤️
There’s a happy, playful and affectionate young girl emerging more and more every day. She just needs someone willing to give her the time and security to finish blossoming.
Could you be the person who helps Nesso discover just how wonderful life can be? 🏡🐾
