PLEASE READ THE FULL ADVERT! We are looking for a suitable home for a young border collie dog. He is partially disabled so potential new owners must be fully aware of this and will be thoroughly vetted to make sure you can offer him what he needs.
Pluto has joint abnormalities in his front legs and is under the care of orthopedic vets. He has had x-rays, and CT scans and his abnormalities are one of a kind, with no explanations or cure. Two vets have told us it's a miracle he is walking and running and seems mostly pain free! They also commented on what a lovely temperament he has and how easy he is to handle and examine even with his abnormalities.
Pluto is a very loving, energetic dog that doesn't know he's disabled and doesn't let anything stop him! He wants to be involved in everything, loves people and other dogs, and is still quite a "puppy." He is house trained, crate trained, and harness/lead trained. He loves his toys and a comfy bed. He loves cuddles and play time. His exercise is restricted outside the house to 15 minutes a day. He loves other dogs. He's fine with cats and small animals in hutches.
He needs someone to love him, continue his training, and offer him a forever home.
Pluto can be a little nervous with new things, especially loud noises, and would benefit from a little more socialising and a very gentle hand. However, he loves people and dogs and is never nasty, he goes to training classes weekly and is used to household noises, children, other pets.
UPDATE MAY 2026 - Pluto has had surgery on one of his front legs to help with long term functionality and pain, he is in the recovery period and we are actively seeking a suitable home for him once he's had his 6 week check up. He will need some physio but we will cover any costs involved in this.
Short term prognosis is good with just limited exercise/jumping and mild pain relief if and when needed. Long term prognosis is unknown but his situation can be discussed in more detail upon enquiry.
Ideally you will -
Live within Hampshire UK
Have a secure garden
Have another friendly confident dog for company
Have experience training young dogs
Have plenty of free time, he shouldn't be left for more than 4hrs a day
Be willing to take him to any follow up vet appointments
Be willing to do a lot of mental stimulation, games and low impact exercises to keep him busy.
ANY CHILDREN IN YOUR HOUSEHOLD MUST BE OVER 10.
