Hello, friends! My name is Amlet, and I’m a sweet-natured, friendly black Labrador cross, around 8 years young and currently in foster in the West Midlands. I spent almost four years waiting in the shelter for someone to notice me. Now that I’ve finally made it to the UK, I’m hoping my forever home might be just around the corner. Like any true Labrador, I absolutely love food! I also adore water, whether I’m paddling in the sea, splashing through puddles or enjoying a good hose-down. But my greatest love is my ball. I’m always ready for a game of fetch, followed by cuddles and a well-earned nap. My life wasn’t always this happy. Before I was rescued, I had spent my life chained up, surviving on very little food and water. Everything changed when a kind person saw me and asked for help. I was taken into rescue and, for the first time, began to understand what it meant to feel safe, cared for and loved. The life I had before rescue has left me with some arthritis, which is also not uncommon in Labradors of my age. But you honestly wouldn’t know it from watching me. It doesn’t slow me down at all, and I still throw myself into my walks, water adventures and ball games with plenty of enthusiasm. Because of my past, I can be a little unsure around other dogs when I first meet them. I just need calm, gentle introductions and time to understand that I’m safe. Once I trust, I form strong bonds. I’ve happily shared my kennel with several female dogs and do well with calm, respectful companions. There is still so much of life I haven’t experienced: new walks, days out, playing ball in my own garden and curling up beside someone on the sofa. I’m ready for all of it. I’m looking for a peaceful, loving home where I can finally relax and enjoy the life I’ve waited so long for. I could live as the only dog or potentially with a calm female dog following careful introductions.
