Sweet Banjo flew to the UK from Cyprus this July, carrying nothing but fear and the faintest spark of hope. He had spent over a year behind bars with two other terrified dogs — three little shadows who would shrink back the moment anyone approached. They had no trust left, no belief that humans could be kind, and no understanding of what safety felt like.
For Banjo, life had been about surviving, not living. When the decision was made to fly the trio to the UK, it wasn’t just a change of location — it was a lifeline. A chance to finally breathe. A chance to learn that the world isn’t always something to hide from.
And Banjo’s foster mum has been nothing short of extraordinary. With patience, gentleness, and unwavering love, she has helped him take his first brave steps into a new life. He’s still a sensitive boy, still learning, still watching the world with cautious eyes… but he is trying. He is opening up. He is beginning to understand that kindness is real.
✨ Banjo is now ready for his forever home where he can continue to blossom. An experienced home with another confident dog to guide him. A place where he can learn what everyday life looks like — where he can discover sofas, routines, soft voices, and the feeling of belonging.
Banjo's can live live with single people, a couple or family - to continue with his confidence building he will need to live with another dog.

THIS IS WHAT HIS FOSTER MUM SAYS:
Banjo is honestly such a lovely, easy-going boy with the sweetest personality. He absolutely loves other dogs, especially ones around his age, and really comes alive when he has a doggy friend to play with and follow around. He’s also completely unbothered by cats and other pets, so he’s been really easy to have around everyone.
He’s a massive couch potato at heart and loves nothing more than a good nap, a comfy spot on the sofa and plenty of back scratches. He’s also a great little adventure buddy — he loves being in the car and coming along on trips with us. Once he’s out walking he’s brilliant on the lead and walks really nicely on both long and short leads.
Food is definitely one of the ways to his heart. He gets home-cooked meals with his vitamins and absolutely loves his food. He can be a cheeky little scavenger if something tasty is left within reach, but he’s learning patience and manners around food really well.
He’s also such a rewarding dog to have because you can see his confidence growing all the time. He’s still a sensitive puppy and there are things in the world he finds scary, but he works through them one by one and is getting braver all the time. The main thing we’re currently working on is putting his harness on, as the getting-ready part of a walk can still make him nervous, even though he really enjoys himself once he’s out.
Banjo naturally gravitates towards women and tends to feel comfortable with them much more quickly. He can be unsure around male members of the household and takes longer to build trust with men, so this is another area where he benefits from patience, gentle interactions and being allowed to approach in his own time.
He’s affectionate, funny, gentle and really enjoys just being part of everyday life with you. He’s come on so much already and I think he’ll continue to blossom, especially with someone patient and ideally another friendly dog around to give him that extra bit of confidence. ❤️
