Meet Wez ❤️
Wez is a 5-year-old male who we are sadly looking to rehome, and this is a decision we have not taken lightly.
Wez is a beautiful, loyal and incredibly loving boy. He is gentle with the children he lives with and has never bitten anyone. He is fully house-trained, microchipped and has never been destructive or chewed furniture or belongings. When out of the home, Wez is generally good with both people and other dogs.
We believe Wez may be a Malinois/Tervuren mix, and we were told his father was a police dog. He is the only long-haired puppy from his litter. He is an intelligent, active working-type dog and needs much more than simply being a family pet.
We also want to be completely honest about Wez’s challenges because finding the right home is far more important to us than finding the quickest home.
Wez is very protective of his home and family. He can be wary of unfamiliar people coming into the house and can become reactive towards visitors. He also struggles with separation and can pace and growl when my partner leaves. Because of this, he needs an experienced owner who understands working breeds and is prepared to give him the structure, consistency, exercise and training he needs.
We are rehoming Wez because our circumstances have changed. We both work, we have two young children and another baby on the way, and we simply cannot give Wez the amount of time, exercise, attention and structure that he deserves.
This is absolutely not because Wez is a bad dog. In the right environment, with someone who understands him and can meet his needs, we believe he has the potential to be a wonderful companion.
We are looking for an experienced, committed home for Wez — ideally someone familiar with Malinois, Tervuren or other working breeds, who understands that he will need time to settle and build trust. His new home needs to be prepared for his protective nature and separation difficulties rather than expecting these things to disappear overnight.
We will be honest about Wez with anyone interested because his welfare comes first. We would much rather take our time and find the right person than place him somewhere unsuitable.
Wez has given our family so much love, and saying goodbye is heartbreaking. We just want to give him the opportunity to have the life, attention and structure that we can no longer provide. ❤️
Donation/rehoming contribution
We are not looking to make money from Wez and his welfare is our only priority. We ask for a small donation towards his rehoming, not because we are putting a price on him, but to help demonstrate that his new family is in a position to cover the basic costs of responsible dog ownership, including quality food, routine veterinary care, vaccinations, flea and worm treatment, insurance and any other day-to-day needs.
The amount of the donation is much less important to us than finding the right home. We will be asking questions and taking the time to make sure Wez is going to a suitable, experienced and committed family. His new home will need to understand that owning a large, active working-type dog is a financial and lifelong commitment.
We will never choose a home simply because they offer the most money. Wez’s welfare and finding him the right forever home will always come first. ❤️
