🤎 A Very Special Home Wanted for Our Beautiful Chocolate Sable English Cocker Spaniel🤎 It is with a very heavy heart that we have made the difficult decision to find a new home for our beautiful boy, Bertie (Harlequin Macchiato) We love him dearly, and this decision has not been made lightly. However, we have come to realise that our family may not be the right fit for him, and we want to give him the opportunity to thrive in a home that is better suited to his individual needs. 🐾 A little about him: 🤎 Chocolate sable English Cocker Spaniel 🤎 Kennel Club registered 🤎 Fully vaccinated 🤎 Unneutered 🤎 Crate trained 🤎 Travels well 🤎 Friendly around other dogs when out on walks 🤎 Passed the Kennel Club puppy training classes 🤎 Affectionate, friendly and eager to please He is a typical young spaniel with lots of energy, enthusiasm and love to give. _________________________________________________ 🏡 The home we are looking for: We feel he would be happiest as the only dog in the household. He can become jealous when attention isn’t focused on him, which is something we are currently working on with a trainer. We want to be completely honest about this so that we can find a home where he can feel settled, secure and enjoy the individual attention he thrives on. We believe he would flourish with an active, experienced owner, particularly someone familiar with spaniels, who has the time and commitment to provide plenty of exercise, continued training, mental stimulation and enrichment, A home that understands the needs of a young spaniel and is willing to continue building on his training would be ideal _________________________________________________ Diet, food motivation and training: He has undergone allergy testing and has confirmed dietary sensitivities, which are currently managed with Tails hypoallergenic Salmon kibble. This helps keep his digestive issues under control. He is extremely food motivated, which is fantastic for training as he is eager to learn and responds well to food rewards. However, his nose is always on the go, and he will sniff out food around the house and assume it is his! For this reason, care needs to be taken not to leave food unattended or allow him to pick up dropped food, particularly given his dietary sensitivities. We have been working on his food manners and have taught him the commands “leave” and “wait”. He is learning to wait patiently until he is given permission to eat. He is also fed separately from our other dog, as he will try to eat her food as well. This is another reason we feel he would be happiest as the only dog in the household, where his feeding routine can be managed more easily and he can enjoy having his own space and individual attention. He is a bright, food-loving boy with lots of potential, and we believe he would thrive with an owner who can continue building on his training with patience, consistency and positive reinforcement. _________________________________________________ Potential Future Opportunities: His nose is rarely off the ground when we’re out exploring, and we feel he could really thrive with someone who enjoys scent work, gundog activities or other enrichment that allows him to use his natural instincts, With three children and the demands of family life, unfortunately, we simply don’t have the time to explore this avenue with him in the way we would love to. And… As a KC registered boy with his distinctive chocolate sable colouring, he may also be of interest to an experienced, responsible breeder who wishes to explore his potential as a future stud dog. This would, of course, be subject to the appropriate breed-specific health testing, genetic screening and assessment of his suitability for breeding. His health, temperament and wellbeing must always come first. __________________________________________________ He is a sweet natured, loving boy with so much potential, and we want nothing more than for him to find a home where he can be happy, understood and given every opportunity to thrive. This is an incredibly difficult decision for us, and we are not looking to rehome him quickly or to just anyone. We want to meet prospective families, have a proper conversation and ensure that the home offered is the right fit for him. Ideally, we would love to find someone who can offer him the time, attention, patience and opportunities that we feel he deserves. A rehoming fee will apply to help ensure he goes to a suitable, committed home. He can come with his crate, toys, collar, harness & lead. Please message us if you genuinely feel you could offer him the loving forever home he deserves. We would be happy to answer any questions🤎
