Description
Ziggy is a 6 year old, large male. He arrived in the UK in April 2021 but was surrendered just 10 days after his arrival. They decided to carry on and work with but only gave him another week before surrendering him again. They described Ziggy as dangerously destructive. This is primarily due to separation anxiety and does not like to be left alone for long lengths of times. They claimed he ripped out their kitchen sink when he had been left. They said he struggled with men and nipped the man in the home a few times.
Ziggy then moved to emergency boarding and then to the UK kennels OSH where he has resided ever since.
Ziggy has a lot of anxiety and spins a lot in his kennel, he has been put on fluoxetine and goes out with Carrie every day which seems to have helped him as he will settle in his kennel. However, he will spin when you put him back, he doesn't like to be left and is a result of his separation anxiety. Ziggy would need a home with someone who is around all of the time with limited time away and that can slowly progress to him having alone time and being comfortable with this.
Ziggy is good on the lead and walks well but he likes to stick to the side against the bushes, a behaviour said this is due to his anxiety as he feels safe and open spaces cause him stress. He walks nicely with other dogs with no issues and isn't usually reactive to ones passing unless it's a dog he has chosen not to like. He can be reactive to strangers but he is making good progress with this lately. Ziggy is fine with other dogs and could share a home with another dog following successful meets at the kennels.
Ziggy does have a bite history from the home and when he first arrived at the kennel. However, he hasn't bitten or attempted to bite any staff and is very placid with us. Ziggy is fearful of men and can be reactive to them so would need multiple meets if he were to live with them. He has built up with Will fine and had no issues.
Ziggy loves people once he gets to know you and loves a fuss and cuddle, he thinks he is a big lap dog. He's desperate for human affection and prefers that over anything else. He would need a child and cat free home but could live with another dog pending successful meets.
Ziggy loves playing in the sand in the paddocks and sunbathing, he enjoys his walk as long as he can stay by a bush and he like stuffed toys. Ziggy is allergic to poultry so is on a poultry free diet at the kennels
