Description

Kim fostered Norwich Norfolk 8️⃣ years old 🐈‍⬛ Passed cat testing 🐶 Can live with or without other dogs 👧 Adult family needed Kim is a small to medium sized crossbreed aged around eight years old. Kim was found in a village in Romania. A very sad case of a pack of dogs all with horrible injuries, it is thought the injuries were caused from being beaten. Many have broken bones and fractures but Kim appears to have escaped any visible injuries. We don’t even want to imagine what suffering these dogs saw and endured. Whilst others in the pack that we’ve rescued have hidden from us initially and flinch to the touch, Kim looks at people with quiet disdain. She’s very handleable once she knows you and can be groomed, bathed, stroked, but she’s not going to give you the satisfaction of showing she’s enjoying it for a while. Walks are a battle as she endures them with a thunderous expression on her sullen face. Each time we hope that this time will be the one that she shows an interest and enjoys it, but she’s not there yet. She approaches a walk with the same attitude that I would approach an hour in the gym, it’s good for her but she’s hating every second lol. She gets on ok with the other dogs in her foster home but only interacts with the ones that were rescued from that same pack currently. She could be the only dog in the home. She will need a patient and experienced adopter who is willing to put up with several weeks or months of dirty looks and belligerent ingratitude. She is fine with the safe rescue cat. Kim will need a quiet and calm home environment. She will need an adult home with someone who understands that they will have to earn her trust before seeing her true character emerge. TERMS AND CONDITIONS When you adopt a Safe Rescue dog, you MUST use a slip lead. This will keep your dog safe: your new dog will be nervous and will not trust you, and you will not know which situations might upset your dog. If your dog panics, then a slip lead is the only way to prevent your dog from escaping (many dogs can escape from a collar and/or harness). It will take AT LEAST 3-6 months for your dog to settle-in and for you to know your dog fully (longer for nervous dogs). The slip lead must ALWAYS be used during this settling-in period. Even after your dog is settled, it is safest to use the slip lead in situations where your dog may become scared (e.g. visiting new places, around unfamiliar people, at the vet), and in situations where unexpected triggers might happen (e.g. around bonfire night). Nervous dogs may always need to wear a slip-lead as a back-up safety measure. The slip lead is a safety device and must NEVER be used as a training tool. Using the lead to apply pressure to the dog’s neck is damaging. If your dog pulls on the lead, then we can advise you on training methods that avoid harm. Once your dog is settled, you may want to consider using a harness (together with the slip lead) if your dog is comfortable with being handled when it is fitted. Most harnesses are not escape-proof, but harnesses with a strap behind the ribcage (e.g. Ruffwear Webmaster or Perfect Fit Harnesses) are safer. Retractable / extendable leads must never be used on our dogs. Adopted dogs must be collected from the rescue and transported straight home in a crate. Fences and gates must be 5foot minimum in height and secure. If you are interested please message.
