Description

Through no fault of his own I am having to re-home my pet dog, Pip. Unfortunately due to my partner's allergies and a change in my employment circumstances we can no longer meet his needs. Pip is a very loving dog who loves attention from people. He's playful and always willing to do things with you. He is an anxious dog but he's well trained and behaved, and has a good temperament. He loves to play fetch and tug games. He can be trusted off-lead to play fetch games when there are no dogs around so we often play fetch on walks. He also enjoys trick training. We also hide treats around the house for him to sniff out and he enjoys Kongs and lickmats etc. His favourite toy is probably a squeaky plush toy. He's also treat motivated, which helps with training and such. Pip has lived in a mostly quiet household, but is used to family households (often stays with family, who have children) and gets on well with children. He does not get on well with other dogs (see below) but he can learn to live well with other dogs with patient and careful introduction. Pip can be left alone at home for a good length of time (he may bark a little for the first 5 minutes but he settles down). He is generally relaxed at home once he has settled into his home, but he is an active dog outside of the home and will happily play games with you and go on long walks etc. Unfortunately he does not like other dogs and is reactive so this would need to be managed. He is aggressive towards dogs that he does not know if they get too close. This is not much of a problem on walks usually as he is kept on a lead and under control. This is primarily a problem when others have their dog off lead and their dog does not recall when told to. This behaviour is something he has suffered with since he was a puppy and is the result of being attacked twice. He has been fearful of strange dogs since. We have worked on this and it does improve slightly during the Spring, Summer and Autumn but usually gets worse in the Winter when it becomes dark quite early. He can learn to get on with dogs with careful introductions but you will have to be patient with him. Pip is 5 years old and is not neutered. Please feel free to ask any questions. My main priority is making sure he goes to a good home.
