❄️ MICKEY’S STORY
A few winters ago, Mickey was found in the middle of a road, almost frozen.
The person who discovered him was the son of our fellow rescuer, Elena. He narrowly avoided running Mickey over — and, thankfully, stopped to help him.
It is heartbreaking to imagine this little white dog lying in the road in the bitter cold, vulnerable both to the freezing weather and to passing cars. We do not know how he came to be there, but we do know that being found that day changed his life.
Mickey was brought to safety and went on to live for several years in Elena’s family home, alongside her grandson. This gave his carers the opportunity to know him properly: his habits, his affectionate nature, his behaviour with children and his ability to live as part of a household.
Now we are helping Mickey find a permanent family of his own — people who will cherish him and give him the lasting security every dog deserves. 🤍
💕 AFFECTIONATE WITH PEOPLE — EVEN NEW FRIENDS!
Mickey is a very loving boy. His affection extends beyond the people he knows well: he is affectionate with strangers too.
He needs a family who will make time for him and include him in everyday life. Shared play, gentle attention and the simple pleasure of being together should all be part of his future.
Mickey has already shown what a lovely companion he can be. We want his next family to enjoy getting to know him and to value the trusting, affectionate dog he is. 💛
🧸 A PLAYFUL BOY WHO LOVES HIS TOYS
Mickey may be a mature gentleman, but he still enjoys his toys!
His playful side is part of his charm, and his new family should be happy to encourage it. Suitable toys, little games together and opportunities to explore will give him things to enjoy as he settles into his new home.
An adult dog brings his own personality, preferences and familiar habits. Discovering Mickey’s favourite toys and the games he enjoys will be a lovely way for his adopters to build their bond with him. 🐾
🏡 FULLY HOUSE-TRAINED
Mickey is fully house-trained and very clean in the house.
He has lived in a family home for several years and understands household life. This is an established part of his behaviour, known through living with him.
As with any adopted dog, a change of home still deserves patience. His adopters should give him regular opportunities to go outside and time to learn where everything is and how his new routine works. A kind, steady welcome will help him feel secure.
👧 GOOD WITH CHILDREN
Mickey is good with children and has lived in Elena’s home with her grandson for several years.
His suitability for family life is based on that experience. He is a loving, sociable boy who has shared his home with a child and been properly assessed by the people caring for him.
In keeping with Friends InDeed Dog Rescue’s policy, we consider homes with children aged 10 and over. Children must understand how to treat a dog kindly, respect his resting space and allow him quiet time when he needs it.
🐕 GOOD WITH OTHER DOGS
Mickey is sociable with other dogs, and we welcome enquiries from suitable homes with a friendly resident dog.
Introductions should be considerate, giving both dogs time and space to become comfortable with one another.
We would also welcome enquiries from people looking for a sole companion, provided they can offer Mickey the time, company and attention he needs.
His compatibility with cats has not been confirmed, so please discuss any cats or other pets in your household with us.
✂️ A FLUFFY COAT THAT NEEDS CARE
Mickey’s lovely white coat will need regular brushing and professional grooming as appropriate to keep it comfortable and free from matting.
His adopters should be ready for the ongoing time and expense involved. Caring for that coat is an essential part of caring for Mickey. 🤍
🌷 THE HOME MICKEY NEEDS
We are looking for kind, committed adopters who want a dog as a much-loved member of their family.
Mickey needs companionship, suitable daily exercise, opportunities to play, regular grooming and proper veterinary care. Above all, he needs people who understand that adoption is a lifelong commitment.
He is fully vaccinated and neutered, fully house-trained, good with children and other dogs, and very affectionate with people. There is so much to love about this little boy — and we hope the right family will recognise that.
