Description

Louie is a 3-year-old Shih Tzu with a big personality and lots of love to give. We got him when he was just 8 weeks old and he has been fully house-trained. He is playful, affectionate and loves being involved in family life. He enjoys bringing you his toys, playing fetch, football and tug of war, and is happiest spending time with his people. He is very intelligent and quickly picks up dog puzzles and enrichment games. Louie loves affection and is a real companion dog. When he's had his exercise and playtime, he is equally happy curling up beside you on the sofa for a cuddle. He enjoys walks and exploring new places but is also content with two shorter daily walks during the week. He travels well in the car, behaves well in cafés and public places, and is friendly with other dogs when out and about. He is good on the lead and enjoys meeting and playing with other dogs on walks. Louie would be best suited as the only pet in the home. He has lived with a toddler and is playful and affectionate around children, but due to his behavioural needs he would be better suited to an adult-only home or a family with older children who understand dog boundaries. Louie has shown occasional resource guarding and handling-related behaviours. In some situations, particularly when he is frustrated or being moved away from something he wants, he has growled, snapped and occasionally used his teeth to nip. These incidents have not resulted in injury, but he would benefit from an experienced owner who is willing to continue working on his training. Louie requires professional dog grooming every 6 weeks which costs around £45. This is an incredibly difficult decision, but with a 2-year old toddler and an 8-week old baby we are no longer able to give Louie the time, consistency and support he needs. We are looking for a loving home where he can receive the attention and training he deserves.
