🐾 Looking for the perfect home for Bear 🐾 Meet Bear, a handsome 2-year-old male Kelpie x Collie who is looking for a new home where his needs, instincts and training can be properly understood. ❤️ The good stuff about Bear: Very obedient and clever. House-trained. Lives happily with another dog and can also be happy as an only dog. Used to young children, cars and chickens. Can be off lead in certain situations with the right management and supervision. Has huge potential in the right hands, with a natural drive and a real desire to work. 🐾 Bear’s challenges: Bear has a strong reactive response to other dogs and can struggle with introductions. He can be around other dogs off lead in managed situations but requires a muzzle for safety. He will need an experienced owner who understands dog reactivity and is confident managing it. He also has an extremely strong herding instinct. If given the opportunity, he will take it and can disappear off to herd! Although he can be off lead around livestock, this requires close supervision, keeping him close and ensuring he remains responsive to commands. 🏡 What Bear needs: We are looking for an experienced home with someone who understands reactivity, is committed to continuing his training and can provide the structure, boundaries and appropriate outlets he needs. We have worked with multiple trainers, unfortunately without seeing an improvement in his reactivity, so we want to be completely honest about the challenges involved. A home that can channel Bear’s strong working and prey drive into suitable activities, such as structured scent work or other appropriate working outlets, could be a great fit for him. Bear is a clever, capable dog who needs the right environment and someone who understands him. This is not a decision we have taken lightly, and finding the right home is far more important than finding a quick home and money.
