🐾🐻 BEAR – FOSTER TO ADOPT 🐻🐾
Cornwall • Devon • Devon/Somerset border
Hello! I’m little Bear 🐻❤️
I’m a gorgeous young Cavapoo, born in July 2025, which means I’m still very much a baby really. A ridiculously cute one, obviously 😂
I’m clever, funny, playful and affectionate. I love my walks, soft toys, tummy rubs and learning tricks for treats. People even stop to tell me how handsome I am when I’m out and about. I’m house-trained, good in the car and I can be left for around four hours without getting worried. I’ve even stayed with family for two weeks and had a sleepover at my trainer’s house, where apparently I was “as good as gold”. See? I really can be a very good little Bear 😇
I currently live with my family in another part of the UK and they love me very much. They have worked really hard to understand me and have had help from trainers and behaviourists too. But my home is quite busy, with lots happening around me, and I’m just not coping particularly well with that kind of life.
The problem is that sometimes my brain gets a bit too busy! I think I’d much prefer things a little calmer. A predictable routine. Plenty of sleep. Kind, sensible boundaries. Someone who notices when my little brain has had enough and helps me switch off before I become completely frazzled.
Apparently I’m a bit like an overtired toddler sometimes. I insist I’m absolutely fine and definitely don’t need a nap… while simultaneously falling apart. My family discovered that giving me proper quiet time in my covered crate after walks makes a huge difference. I happily snooze for a couple of hours and sometimes I’m so comfy I sometimes don’t even bother coming out when the door opens.
When I’m tired or overwhelmed, particularly in the evenings, I can find some things harder to deal with. If I pick up something I shouldn’t have, for example, I can resource guard it. The easiest thing is to swap with me for something tasty rather than simply taking it away.
I don’t routinely guard my dinner or my own toys, though. And I’m pretty good at telling humans when I’m uncomfortable too. I might freeze. Then I might growl. If nobody listens to those quieter messages, I may snap. So I need someone who hears me when I’m whispering, so I never feel I have to shout! Because the thing is, that I have occasionally used my mouth when I’ve felt pushed beyond what I can cope with. There has been one contact incident with my dad which caused bruising/denting but no puncture injury. The other incidents have essentially been just warnings and snaps.
I’m not a little dog looking for trouble. Sometimes I’m simply saying: “I can’t cope with this right now.”
There are some things I’m not very keen on either. I don’t like being unnecessarily picked up, I can find paws and grooming difficult and I’m not a fan of a harness going over my head. What I don’t need is someone determined to make me tolerate everything because “dogs should let you do that”. I need somebody who will work with me!
Someone experienced and dog-savvy who understands canine body language, gives me sensible boundaries but respects mine too, and knows that kindness and consistency can go very happily together.
I’m therefore looking for an adult-only home in Cornwall, Devon or around the Devon/Somerset border, ideally somewhere calm and settled rather than somewhere with people constantly coming and going. Busy towns are not for me, more rural would be wonderful
And yes, I’m clever enough that I would probably take over the household given half a chance, so please don’t think I’m asking for a total pushover 😂 I need guidance and boundaries too. I just need them set by somebody who understands me.
The lovely Paws2Freedom people already have a foster home in Devon lined up for me, so please don’t worry, I’m safe. But because I’m currently living in another part of the UK, moving into foster will already be a big change. If my special person happens to see me before then, everyone would love for me to go straight into a foster-to-adopt home instead. That doesn’t mean you have to look at my ridiculously cute little face and promise me forever on day one 😍! It simply gives us time to get to know one another properly, while Paws2Freedom supports us and we can see how I settle once my life becomes quieter.
Just to recap: I really don’t need somebody to “fix” me. I need somebody to understand me, guide me, help that busy little brain of mine settle and love the funny, clever, cuddly little Bear I already am 🐻❤️
If you think you might be my kind of human, please have a read through Paws2Freedom’s settling-in guide first:

And if you want to foster me with intend to adopt, you’ll find the relevant forms and information here:

I don’t need a perfect human, just a calm, kind one who is willing to learn and who will listen to me, make me feel safe and love me just as I am. Maybe that could be you? ❤️🐻🐾
Please share my little face too. Somewhere out there, my person might just be scrolling past!
Woof you! Love,
Bear xx
