Tommy is in foster in Hampshire, UK
Tommy had a lovely home in Cyprus but unfortunately a family member developed serious allergies and had to give him up. They were devastated and he ended up back in the shelter. We made the decision to fly him to the UK.
Tommy is most likely a mix of Bassett hound and lab he has the Bassett deep bark & the labs love of food.
He would be classed as small-medium he's longer than he is tall.
He's housetrained & his recall is good with me & our 2 other dogs that he follows, having said that in the secure field he came as soon as he was called.
He has started to trust more the longer he has been here. He would love a home as an only dog or with a laid back resident dog.
He needs someone who will listen & give him space when he wants it, he does move away when he has had enough petting or cuddles.
He loves a walk & walks beautifully on lead, his favourite thing to do is sniff as much information out of each blade of grass as he can, after his walk he will happily spend the rest of the day being a couch potato.
He knows sit, paw, down & learning wait, he is very easy to train and very intelligent.
He loves to watch the pigeons in the garden & is enjoying using a snuffle mat & puzzles while it's too hot to go out. He loves water when out, but doesn't go in the pool on his own at home, but happily allows you to pick him up to put him in for a cool down.
He does love kids, but they would need to be older so they understand he needs his space & doesn't like to be touched near his ears and tail until he fully trusts you, which we can now do, so it's possibly a past trauma & once he knows you will stop if he asks then he's fine.
He now seeks us out for affection & will snuggle right in & will sleep on the end of the bed or his bed on the floor depending how he feels.
