Description
Rupert aka “Duffy, gorgeous 5 month old Lab cross Pointer
Currently in his foster home in Chesterfield
This delightful puppy and his brothers have recently flown from Cyprus to the UK in search of their forever sofas.
They were found in fields, all 4 brothers, no food, eater, shelter, they were very lucky to be found and looked after extremely well until they flew to the UK recently.
From his foster mum
Rupert (aka “Duffy”…there’s a story here) is the sweetest, gentlest little soul and a true gentleman even at such an early age. When he arrived at our home it was very clear he understood his assignment and it was as if he’d been and done all of this before. He pretty much toilet trained himself with very little direction from me or my other dog and I’m pleased to report that he has continued to be clean in the house and will notify me if he needs to go outside. He has gotten along wonderfully with my adult lurcher (male) and they’ve become firm friends, playing nicely together and understanding when to back off and when it’s playtime.
There’s been no food aggression or guarding, he’s a rather passive and submissive character but he will stand his ground if necessary. He walks nicely on his lead most of the time but this will need a little work, and stays close by when on his long line.
He’s a playful chap but likes to feel safe and will look to you for confirmation that all is well. Is still wary of most people at a distance, will look on as if to figure out friend or foe but he’s not reactive and settles as soon as you say hello or pass on by and will sit quietly if you stop and chat to other dog walkers.
He travels well when crated in the car and can be left for short periods ie whilst nipping to the shop -he just settles in his crate without a fuss.
He loves cuddles and affection and will actively seek this out especially if it involves sitting very close to you on the sofa and snuggling in!
I can see that he has a very cute and somewhat silly personality and will be a wonderful, slightly goofy companion as he grows in to himself. He sleeps well through the night and has been clean EVERY night he’s been here; his bed is on the floor beside mine and my other dog also sleeps in a bed in my room, which has helped him in the settling process.
He enjoys chewy toys and teddies, especially the ones with the crinkly texture inside and a squeaker. I think the teething has taken over though so he’s more in to his chews and animal horns whilst his new teeth emerge. He loves natural treats like chicken feet, beefy chews and pigs ears etc - all that chewing tires him out so he’ll generally rest a while afterwards.
He’s been an absolute joy to have at home, Definitely a lover not a fighter, a real soulful boy who just wants to be loved, cuddled and bring you joy!
This puppy is expected to grow to be around 20-22 kilos roughly, he would love an active and loving family that will provide him with lots of socialising and training, play dates with other dogs, maybe some children that he can play fetch with.
As puppy, he cannot be left alone for long periods, and children have to be over 5 years old.
He is fully vaccinated, Blood tests including Brucella Canis, healthy and ready to land on your sofa.
