Description
Roxy is looking for a new forever home in the UK.
She is currently in Cambridgeshire area, she is almost 5 years old, and a large size lady.
He adopters circumstances will be changing soon, and he had to make the difficult decision for us to find a new home for Roxy, as a busy family home will not be suitable for Roxy.
This is all about Roxy -
About Roxy
Roxy loves going for walks and will eagerly head to the door whenever she senses it might be time to go out. She particularly enjoys exploring the outdoors and is happiest when walking in the countryside on a long lead where she can investigate her surroundings.
She enjoys playing with toys, especially rope toys and squeaky toys – her favourite being her ****************** pudding toy.
Roxy is a loyal and affectionate dog who forms strong bonds with her people. In the home she is calm and settled, and she enjoys being close to you, often following from room to room before lying down nearby. When she is tired she prefers to sleep in quieter areas of the house where she is less aware of passers-by and can properly relax.
Roxy thrives in a secure home environment and is generally very good with guests inside the house.
Exercise and Environment
Roxy benefits most from structured walks rather than paddock-style exercise. She will happily play and fetch a ball, but care should be taken not to over-excite her as she sometimes forgets how strong she is.
She would do best in a calm, predictable home. Due to her natural protective instincts, a quieter setting such as a village location, a home with a large garden, or easy access to countryside walks would suit her well.
Her current routine includes a longer walk in the morning and evening, with a shorter walk around lunchtime.
Walking and Handling
Roxy needs a confident and patient handler when out on the lead. She can become reactive if other dogs, bikes, cars or unfamiliar people get too close or approach from behind.
With calm, consistent handling and good awareness of her surroundings, she can be guided through potentially stressful situations successfully. Taking the time to manage her environment and maintain space from triggers helps her walk well.
Roxy has a strong instinct to protect her person and their space, so she benefits from clear leadership and someone experienced who can confidently manage interactions when out and about.
Other Animals
Roxy can be selective with other dogs and can be particularly wary of some female dogs. She may be able to live with a calm, well-trained dog that could act as a positive role model, but careful introductions would be essential.
Due to her strong prey drive she cannot live with small animals, cats, or small dogs. Fast-moving animals such as squirrels are very difficult for her to ignore.
Home Environment
Roxy has previously lived with children and an older male dog. However, she would likely do best in a quieter home environment.
A single-person household or an experienced owner able to provide confident leadership would suit her well. If children are present, they should be older and confident around dogs.
Roxy’s protective nature means she needs careful handling in situations where people or dogs approach unexpectedly. When managed calmly and proactively, these situations can usually be diffused.
Training
Roxy is currently receiving regular training with ElysiuMk9uk to help manage her reactivity and continue developing her skills.
