Description

This is a very reluctant and sad decision and therefore we appreciate only truly interested enquiries. We’ve had our dog since eight weeks old and he is very much loved by our children, sadly early in his life he developed anxiety in relation to noise and this has exacerbated as the years have gone by. He is extremely noise reactive both in fear when he hears fireworks , loud bangs or even if someone sneezes loudly. He’ll retreat to a safe space in our house. His noise sensitivity has also led to some unwanted behaviours, which is what has led us to looking at rehoming. Our only other option is a very challenging one for us all. In recent months, his noise sensitivity has led him to lunge and snap, especially if one of my children comes down the stairs, he hears the cats, or a dog barks on the television. These behaviours if we were just an adult home would be manageable but with children we cannot continue. We would very much like for him to find a home where there is a big open space because he loves being outside and a comfy sofa for the evenings. His favourite things to do are play catch and you will have to put the ball away if you want any peace and quiet m. He also loves water and would spend hours playing in this if given the opportunity. His walking is generally good, but with the problems above can sometimes be a challenge. He gets on really well with other dogs and accepted a new puppy in our extended family without issue. We meet dogs when we’re out and generally he’ll ignore these. We don’t let him off the lead due to his anxieties. Finally, he receives daily medication for his anxiety fluoxetine and depending on his new home it is likely this would have to continue. He is genuinely a lovely boy who just needs space to run, doesn’t really request cuddles but does need a comfy sleeping spot. He needs a home with no cats and no children.
