Description

Sage is a 7 month old, female, purebred German Shepherd puppy. Giving her up is a truly heartbreaking decision for me, so I want to find her a forever home that can give her the dedicated time, socialisation, training, daily activity and immense love that she needs and deserves. ABOUT SAGE’S MEDICAL/PHYSICAL HISTORY Sage's vaccinations are all up to date, however she is not yet spayed. The vet suggested she is likely to need spaying at around 12 months. She is calm at the vet, I have not had any problems with her behaviour during vet appointments nor when trimming nails. At her last check, she was a happy, healthy, well growing dog with no health concerns. ABOUT SAGE’S BEHAVIOUR/TRAINING Sage is extremely sweet and very friendly, always eager to socialise with other dogs and humans. She has not lived with other pets so I am unable to comment on this, though she has spent minimal time around a friend's cats. She did not chase and has never been aggressive about people/animals, but was eager to be friends with them as well. She can become overly excited around other animals and when meeting people, particularly when she gets a lot of attention from them. However, she is typically calm when at home, though she does not have a lot of experience being left on her own and she is likely to need dedicated further training in this area. I would say she has mild separation anxiety, we have been slowly working to build her confidence to reduce this. She is still in training and we are working on gradually building her commands and manners. Sage knows basic commands such as 'sit', 'down,' 'heel,' and 'middle' (between the legs). She responds to ‘no’ and ‘off/down,’ We are working hard on her daily manners, and her leash/walking manners. She has proven herself very smart and picks up new commands quickly, but as she is still a teenager she can be stubborn about listening right away. She will benefit from a loving home that is able to give her calm, patient and consistent guidance, and plenty of attention and exercise. Sage is fully house/toilet trained, and she has not had accidents due to e.g. excitement. She does like to eat things off the ground when walking, which is another training point we are working on. Her favourite games are a kick around with a football, a good spray with a hose or spritzer bottle, and playing tug. As I am giving her up out of necessity and not choice, I hope for her forever home to be with a caring family, with plenty of space for her to run and play, and who understands the commitment and needs of a German Shepherd. We will meet in person at least once before agreeing to rehome, and I will request to see, at a minimum, images of your garden or your open space for her. If the fit is good, I would like to bring her for an initial visitation before final handover. YOU’VE FALLEN IN LOVE WITH HER, WHAT NEXT? If you think you could provide Sage with the lifetime of love she deserves, please send me a message to discuss. In your message, please include the following information: - What is your home life like? Is it a family home, a young couple, working professionals? - Do you have a garden or nearby green space? If you have images, please include them where possible. - Have you owned dogs before? What breed/s and what is your knowledge around German Shepherds? - What life could you offer to Sage? E.g. will she be alone most of the time, will there be children, family, or other animals around? What training will you provide (self-trained, professional etc)? What diet do you plan to have her on? I will not be giving her away without ensuring her forever home will be the correct fit for her, and thoroughly appreciate your patience whilst we organise a full rehome.
