Description
Honestly, Teddy is a great dog and I just want to be completely honest about everything before making any decisions. I bred him myself and still own his mum, dad, and grandma, so this isn’t something we’re doing lightly.
We’re having to rehome him because our landlord is selling our house after 11 years, and we’re likely going into emergency accommodation where we can’t keep the dogs. We have four dogs, and Teddy is the youngest, so he’s the one we’ve had to make the difficult decision to let go.
When Teddy was 4 months old, he broke his knee falling down the stairs and had to stay indoors for 12 weeks while it healed. Because of that, he missed a lot of socialisation with other dogs. He’s great with people, including my two children (7 and 12), and has never shown aggression towards a human.
The only issue is that he doesn’t get along with male dogs. He used to be best friends with our male sausage dog, but as they’ve got older they’ve become territorial and now have to be kept separated. He’s generally fine with female dogs, but I can’t honestly say how he’d be with unfamiliar dogs off lead because we’ve always kept him close since his injury and the issues with our other male.
He’s only just turned 1, so he’s still playful, energetic, crate trained, toilet trained, and knows basic commands. He’s not perfect, but with more one-to-one time and training he’d be a fantastic dog.
I just wanted to be upfront because I don’t want anyone taking him on without knowing the full situation, and then deciding a couple of weeks later that they can’t keep him. This is already heartbreaking for my partner and kids, and unfortunately we wouldn’t be able to take him back.
Give me a message if there’s anything else you would like to know!
