Description
looking for a forever home for lola, she is a 2 year old cane corso, she has been microchipped, vaccinated & wormed and flead. I want to be honest about her to ensure the new owners are the right fit for her & that she won’t have to be faced with rehoming again.
the good points;
- knows basic commands such as sit, stay, lie down, paw etc
-recall is reasonable, but needs more work to be perfect
-food motivated
- loves a cuddle
- very smart loveable dog
now not bad, but things the owner will need to be willing to work with her to improve on;
- resource guarding/food aggression, lola is very protective over her food and cannot be fed with another dog due to this, she can also be snappy & growl at people coming too close to her food; but she has never bitten.
- due to her size & breed she is very strong on the lead & does pull, her potential owner will need to be strong enough to handle this.
- particularly weary of men, and would be better suited to a female owner, however she does get comfortable with men once she has been given the chance to settle.
- not able to live with cats or other small animals
- as part of her breed she is naturally very protective of her home space and there have been a couple of instances where she has gone for people coming into the home, again not bitten, but lunging, growling etc, once she knows they are no threat she will calm down and settle, but I would suggest muzzle training to prevent her from potentially doing more than just lunging.
- although she has always lived with children without issues, we will be seeking an adult only home as she needs the full attention from an adult who can train her to overcome her issues.
lola will not be going to the first person who offers her a home, we will be doing home checks & background checks, along with seeking proven experience of the breed/ large breeds with behavioural issues, and we will spend however much time it takes to find her the right home.
With the right owner, time & attention lola is & will be the best companion, she has so much love to give but unfortunately hasn’t had the best start in life & just needs to be given the opportunity to show her full potential.
