Loggerhead Musk Turtle — Reading, Berkshire
Female | £80
I'm looking for a caring new home for my loggerhead musk turtle. She has a striking large head with dark spots and stripes across her head and neck, and is a typical adult size for the species — around 3–5 inches in shell length.
I bought her in 2023 when she was already 3–4 inches long, so her exact age isn't known, though she was likely already an adult hen. I've had her for about 3 years and loved having her, but with a new addition to the family I'm no longer able to give her the time and care she needs.
She's calm around tankmates — she's never been aggressive toward fish — though she does love to chew on live plants and rearrange her tank! Loggerhead musk turtles are hardy, long-lived, and make fascinating companions when their needs are properly met. She currently spends most of her time in the water rather than basking.
Please note: I'm rehoming the turtle only — no tank or equipment is included.
A quick note before you get in touch:
This isn't a decision I'm taking lightly, and I'd love for her to go to a home that's genuinely ready for her care needs. If you have experience keeping aquatic turtles, or are prepared to research proper tank size, heating, UVB, and diet, that would really help. When you message, a short note about your setup or experience would be great — it helps me find her the right home a little faster.
Let's give her the forever home she deserves.
