Description

It is with an incredibly heavy heart I have to rehome the most incredible boy I have ever owned. He is a real head turner and we constantly get comments about how beautiful he is. We took him on in September as a rehome and unfortunately we were lied to, but once we met him I could not leave him behind. We were told he was 9 months old, a pocket bully and a range of other things. Turns out he is almost 2, he is an American bulldog cross and he is a big strong boy. He was deemed underweight when we got him and we have worked hard to build his weight and muscle up. He is a gentle giant, he would not intentionally hurt a fly but he is boisterous and high energy. He is in tact which obviously plays a role but I think his personality is just a big one. He pulls on a lead, is strong but better with an anti pull harness and a firm word. His recall wasn’t great when we got him, however I can confidently pull him from any situation UNLESS it’s a squirrel! He comes to call and is very food and praise driven. Toys do not last with this boy. He is not reactive in any way but is extremely playful with other dogs and people and doesn’t treat know how to chill, I don’t think he was massively socialised as he doesn’t quite know what to do all the time. He loves his owner. He is by my side every hour of the day. He sleeps downstairs happily in the kitchen, and can be left for periods of time without trouble. I haven’t known him to be destructive unless he’s chewing apart toys but that’s typical bull breed behaviour. In the nicest humanly possible way he is as thick as two planks of wood, I love him and I didn’t think I could love a dog again as much as I love him but he is too big and boisterous for our life (I have two small children). That being said, he loves kids! He is super attached to my girls and protective of them. But he doesn’t have enough awareness to calm down and can knock them over sometimes and jump around. He needs a firm hand, a family that can give him lots of time, affection and love. Hes just a big cuddly boy. This really is not an easy decision for me, I would do anything I could to keep him but I have sat and realised it’s also not fair on him. No offence but I will be extremely picky with the home he goes to as I will not have him go anywhere. And if, for any reason it doesn’t work out, his new family will sign a contract that states I will be given first refusal to take him back. If you think you can give my beautiful boy the right home please get in touch.
