About Jett
Jett is a handsome, affectionate Lab/Pointer mix who has been lucky enough to be a well loved member of his family since arriving in the UK from Cyprus back in 2020. Regrettably, now at the age of eight years old, we’re seeking a new home for Jett. The arrival of young children has meant they simply don’t have the time he needs or deserves, so we’re looking for a family where he can enjoy plenty of time, love and attention. His family will be very sad to see him go, but with building work and a growing family, they feel he would be happier with someone who has more time to dedicate to him.
Jett has a sweet, mellow temperament at home and loves being part of family life. He enjoys a fuss and plenty of attention, although he is also happy to settle in his bed when he needs some time to himself. He can be a little anxious when meeting new people, particularly when visitors come to the home, but once he has had time to get to know them, he settles and becomes comfortable. He also tends to feel more at ease with people who have dogs of their own.
Don't let Jett's calm nature at home fool you, though! Outside, he is a very energetic boy who loves running, charging about and following his nose. He enjoys long walks, exploring new places and sniffing out interesting scents, and would be delighted to have an active family who can give him plenty of opportunities to stretch his legs and use his nose. He particularly enjoys scent games, and a large garden or easy access to fields and woodland would be a real bonus.
Jett is a typical scent loving hound and can be keen to investigate wherever an interesting smell takes him. He does pull towards things he wants to sniff, but he has had training and can walk to heel when asked. His recall has also been worked on, and he knows a good range of commands, including sit, lie down, paw, spin, roll over and wait. He can enjoy off lead time in secure areas, but his nose can sometimes get the better of him, so open spaces need to be approached with care as is common with hounds.
Jett is friendly with other dogs and would enjoy having a canine companion in his new home. He can be a little nervous around larger dogs, although he is often keen to play, and his family feel he would enjoy having another dog to play with in the garden. One thing to note is that he can sometimes be a little bit territorial around treats and chews, so these will need to be managed thoughtfully in a home with other animals.
Jett has been very good with children, although he doesn't always realise his own size! When he gets excited, he can charge about without being aware of little ones in his path, so a home with slightly older children would be a better fit.
Jett is housetrained and is used to family life. He doesn't have much interest in playing ball, but enjoys a game of tug of war and a bit of wrestling. He is a lovely, affectionate dog who is loyal, loving and enjoys being close to his people.
Jett is looking for a family who can give him the time and attention he deserves, with plenty of opportunities for long walks, sniffing and exploring. A home with a garden and countryside walks nearby, and potentially another friendly dog for company, would suit him well. He has lots of affection to give and a lovely balance of calm companionship at home and energetic hound adventures outdoors. With the time and space to enjoy life to the fullest, Jett will make a very rewarding addition to his new family.
