Description
Maggie is a 1 year old collie and an absolute sweetheart. She is loving, intuitive and thrives on mental stimulation. She's a great problem solver! She's pretty chilled for a collie and spends most of her time napping, chewing her toys, playing with our other dog etc but does enjoy her exercise too. She gets on well with people including calm children, and other dogs, but can be reserved/avoidant until she has time to settle and get to know them. She does sometimes chase our cats so I would suggest she needs to be somewhere without cats and other small animals. Maggie is crate trained.
We took Maggie on from a situation she couldn't stay in when she was young, unfortunately since then our young daughter's autistic meltdowns have become very intense and this distresses Maggie who has started running towards her and barking and jumping at her. Maggie is very good with our other two children, one of whom is a toddler. This situation is not fair for Maggie or our daughter and we have been unable to improve her confidence in this situation in order to avoid her response. Our daughter's meltdowns are often very sudden so although Maggie is crate trained she would need to be in her crate constantly to prevent her having access to our daughter and it is simply too stressful for Maggie and our daughter to carry on.
We're looking for a home for Maggie with someone who has the time and love give because she really is the most incredibly sweet and loving girl.
