🐾🍪 COOKIE 🍪🐾
A gorgeous little Yorkie with a BIG personality — looking for the right person, not just any home
🌟 READY FOR ADOPTION • CAN MEET ANYTIME • WORKSOP AREA 🌟
IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ COOKIE'S FULL PROFILE BEFORE ENQUIRING
Cookie has a bite history. His bites have not caused serious injury, but he can react quickly when he feels uncomfortable, startled, pressured or when someone enters what he considers his personal space. He is therefore NOT suitable for children, first-time dog owners, or anyone who is nervous around a dog who may challenge boundaries.
💛 The Cookie we know :
To us - and to the experienced people caring for him at the kennels - Cookie can be an absolute piece of cake. He is funny, affectionate, clever, energetic and hugely entertaining. He lived with us for weeks, slept on our bed, and never once bit either of us.
He adores his tennis ball and will happily bring it back again and again - probably 100 times if your throwing arm can keep up! He loves his walks, loves interaction and can be a wonderfully affectionate little companion once he trusts and understands the person he is with.

⚠️ The part we need to be completely honest about
Cookie is not an easy little dog for everybody. He has bitten a few people. Because he is small, the incidents have not been severe, but a bite is still a bite and we will not minimise or hide that.
His reactions can sometimes seem unpredictable to someone who does not yet know him. For example, he may be perfectly happy and affectionate, but then object if somebody walks too close to his bed or enters his space when he wants to be left alone. On one previous adoption, everything appeared to be going beautifully until the second day, when he was being cuddled and suddenly bit the lady's finger.
This does NOT mean that Cookie spends his life trying to bite people. Quite the opposite: with confident, experienced handlers he is relaxed, manageable and affectionate. But his adopter must accept from day one that he can use his teeth when he feels uncomfortable and must be able to respond calmly, confidently and consistently — without fear, shouting, physical punishment or confrontation.
🧠 What Cookie needs from his person
• A genuinely experienced dog owner — ideally someone who understands terriers and dogs with a bite / reactivity history.
• A calm, confident person who will not be intimidated by him, but who will also respect his warning signs and personal space.
• Clear, consistent boundaries and sensible management rather than force or punishment.
• Someone prepared to let trust develop gradually and not insist on cuddles, handling or interaction when Cookie is uncomfortable.
• An ADULT-ONLY home. No children, including visiting or regularly staying children.
• A secure private garden.
• Someone willing to work with us and keep in touch so that we can support Cookie for life.
🐕 Cookie with other dogs
Cookie is good with many dogs and can even be submissive with a confident smaller dog. However, he is very quick to read weakness. When he realised that PANDA — a dog roughly twice his size — was extremely nervous of him, Cookie began bullying him and poor Panda became frightened.
For that reason, we would prefer Cookie to be the only dog in his new home. We may consider a carefully matched, confident resident dog after proper introductions, but we would not place him with a timid or vulnerable dog.
🏡 Why we are being so specific
Cookie is exceptionally handsome, so he attracts a lot of enquiries. But a beautiful face is not enough reason to adopt him. He has already come back to us three times, and we do not want him to go through another failed placement.
We are not looking for the greatest number of enquiries. We are looking for ONE realistic, experienced person who reads this profile and thinks: "Yes — I understand this kind of dog, I won't panic if he reacts, and I can give him the structure, space, exercise and affection he needs."
❤️ What you get in return
With the right person, Cookie has so much to offer. He is lively, clever, playful and full of character. He loves his walks, loves his ball, enjoys companionship and can be deeply affectionate. Once he feels secure with you, there is a very funny, engaging and lovable little dog underneath that tough-terrier attitude.
Cookie does not need somebody to 'fix' him or prove who is boss. He needs somebody experienced enough not to be frightened by him, wise enough not to push him beyond his comfort zone, and consistent enough to give him the boundaries that help him feel safe.
🐾 Our Promise & Your Commitment
• Cookie will be rehomed strictly as a loved family companion — never for guarding, breeding or working purposes.
• Home check required (often possible by video call).
• Lifetime rescue backup and support.
• If circumstances ever change, Cookie must come back to us.
• No payment until you meet.
📞 Interested in Cookie?
Please contact us only if you have read and understood his bite history and genuinely feel comfortable taking on a small dog with this type of temperament. Tell us about your household, your previous dog experience, any resident animals, your garden and how you would manage a dog who sometimes needs his space.
📍 Cookie is currently in the Worksop area and can be met by arrangement. We strongly encourage more than one meeting if needed — this is about finding Cookie's FOREVER home, not the fastest home.
Cookie is not for everybody. But for the right person, he could be absolutely brilliant. ❤️🐾
