Loving 18-Month Maltichon – Needs a Home with a Canine Friend
It is with a very heavy heart that I am looking for a specific new home for my beautiful 18-month-old Maltichon. She is the most affectionate, loyal companion, but she is currently struggling with the "busy-ness" of my lifestyle and needs a environment I simply cannot provide.
The Good Bits:
She is a true "velcro dog" who loves cuddles and being near her person. She is bright, playful, and has so much love to give. Most importantly, she absolutely loves other dogs. When she is in the company of another dog, her anxiety levels drop significantly and she becomes much more relaxed.
Her Challenges:
She currently suffers from resource guarding (guarding her owner) and separation anxiety. Because of this, she is reactive toward strangers and barks when she feels she needs to "protect" her person. She is not suited to a busy home, an office environment, or being left alone for long periods.
What she needs:
A home with at least one other calm, confident dog. This is a non-negotiable requirement as it is where she is happiest.
A quiet household. No high-traffic areas or frequent visitors.
Owners with experience in "velcro" breeds who understand that she needs patience and positive training, not punishment.
She will come with her bed, favorite toys, and high-quality food to help her settle.
