Description
Hi all, I’m looking for a potential new home for my gorgeous cream-point Ragdoll boy, Rusty. This is a really horrible decision and I’m very attached to him, but he’s having some issues I can’t manage in my current home.
Rusty was born on April 7th, so he’s almost 8 months old. I got him from a registered, experienced breeder along with his brother Alfie. He’s currently living in my flat with housemates (one also has a cat).
He is a 5th-generation pedigree Ragdoll, microchipped, vaccinated, wormed, and comes with certification. He’s on the GCCF non-active register (pet only).
He’s a lovely boy — calm, cuddly, quiet and very affectionate. Classic Ragdoll temperament.
The main problem is that Rusty sometimes urinates on soft surfaces (beds, sofas, pillows). This has been happening on and off since I got him. I’ve followed the breeder’s and vet’s advice, tried different litter trays/litters, a Feliway diffuser, routine changes, etc.
He’s very reliable with poo and always uses the litter tray for that. He will often wee in the tray too — the accidents usually happen on soft things when he starts rummaging around. The vet feels this is likely behavioural, possibly linked to stress or other cats.
He also has one retained testicle, so he’ll need a slightly more complex neuter surgery. I’ve been waiting to see if it drops naturally (as advised), but this is something his future owner should be aware of. Neutering may help with the weeing, but the vet couldn’t guarantee it.
Rusty needs an indoor-only home,
someone with experience of Ragdolls or behavioural quirks, a calm, low-stress environment, someone who can give him plenty of attention and structure , and someone able to manage and work with his litter issues.
If you’re interested please message with RUSTY in the title and tell me a bit about your home, your experience, and why you think you’re a good match for him. I want to make sure he goes somewhere stable, loving and understanding.
