Description

Please read!! This cat has lived on our street for over 3 years, she is a stray, that took to my neighbours, they would feed her daily, and she lived in their garden happily, a few weeks ago the neighbours moved and left her. Their garden has been cleared, so she has no “home” and they asked us to feed her, which we have, but it has attracted foxes, which have tried to attack her and she barely gets a look in. We have contacted many rescues in the area who are at capacity and not taking on cats or uninterested in helping/ taking her on. We really feel she needs the help as she seems unwell, dirty, she is very underweight, and we believe quite old. We had no problem with continuing to feed her, but having cats myself, I just think its unfair that she stays on the street. It’s heartbreaking to see her in all weathers. I’m not sure how one would go about rehabilitating a cat like this, or what would be best, so we’re hoping that there is someone who will see this who is more experienced in rehabbing strays, who would be able to help her, or even a local rescue, who we have not already contacted and is willing to take her on. She is NOT suited to go straight into a pet home, she needs more professional/ experienced help. The ad says £50 as I have to put that, however obviously we do not want any payment or money, we just want her to get into a better situation. She is actually very affectionate, she wasn’t at first, but now she does love a fuss and will tolerate me picking her up. She has clawed/ bitten us before getting to this level of people friendly, but she didn’t draw blood, and it was more of a warning than her being aggressive. She is not always about in the street, sometimes she will go off and explore for a day or so, but if there is someone who can take her on, I will try and get her into a cat box. Its very important to us that she doesn’t go to a rescue that will euthanise for behaviour issues, as it is going to take her some time to adjust to being in one place, but we do believe she can, and would if properly given a chance, as she has come a long way even with us. Had I not already got multiple cats and dogs of my own, I would try my best with her, but I just don’t think its suitable, and to be honest I’m not sure how I would even go about it. Please feel free to get in touch if you think you could help this angel, or if you have any advice. Thank you! X
