Description
Nala is originally from Romainia and she was rescued in September 2024. She is currently in a foster home in Devon with an experienced foster who has 3 resident dogs and a cat. Nala will need to be adopted by someone with at least one resident dog. Nala is a sweet, gentle dog who is still learning to trust. She is naturally cautious and nervous around strangers, but she has learned to trust her foster and is showing her true gentle nature. Nala would benefit from a calm, quiet environment in which to feel safe and take things at her own pace. She needs to live with another dog or dogs, to help her feel more at ease. She learns from being with with other dogs.
Nala is around 20kg, spayed and vaccinated. She can be left for several hours if left with the other dogs. If left on her own then she will bark and whine initially. Because Nala is so shy we are saying no children. She gets nervous when approached and will move away. Nala is keen to trust, and learns quickly, but she lacks confidence. Nala benefits from routine. She can be nervous around strangers, she will run and hide, so this needs to be worked on gradually. Nala likes playing with other dogs and happily sleeps downstairs with the other dogs She is yet to have the confidence to go for a walk, although she has shown interest when the other dogs are taken out. This is something an adopter will need to work on gradually.
We are looking for a quiet home, rural or semi-rural, with a resident dog or dogs. Due to Nala's shyness, we recommend a home without children, although visiting children can be managed. Nala will need access to a garden, and ideally someone with knowledge of Romanian dogs, or dogs who have suffered trauma. Someone with land would be a bonus, so that Nala could experience the outside world without encountering the noise and movement of an urban environment. She would make a great companion for someone with reduced mobility who is happy to let her potter in the garden and develop at her own pace.
